"Son, go make me a hamburger with ketchup please." Son runs to toy kitchen, fires up the grill, puts burger on the grill, flips it, puts burger on bun, adds imaginary ketchup, and takes burger to dad. Mmmmmm! Best imaginary burger I've had in years. My son enjoys every aspect of this kitchen from the phone to the coffee maker to the very realistic grill (For a toy grill!). This was a great purchase, and yes, it was the grill that sold me on this particular kitchen over all the others. My son has always enjoyed helping dad on the real grill, and now he has one of his own. The ice maker could be better. It's difficult to load for my son, and sometimes difficult to dispense ice. It has to be loaded just right, but it works. The doors aren't the best fitting, but plastic on plastic typically isn't anyway. Assembly took about 30 minutes with my wife putting on most of the stickers besides the long one on top. Assembly requires a drill simply to screw the many screws into the plastic. It wasn't difficult, but required two people at times to hold the kitchen still while the screw was being held in one hand and the drill in the other to get it started. Works as described, and I'll probably buy an extra set of fake foods in the future. Plenty of storage under the grill and on the kitchen itself. The cook top makes some good sounds, along with the grill. The flames on the grill are well done with a blower and red LED's. It would be nice if the kitchen faucet actually moved, but it doesn't. Costs had to be cut somewhere, and the makers/designers were pretty good about keeping the important stuff. Overall, a solid 4 1/2 since it's plastic, the faucet doesn't actually move, and neither the dish washer nor oven have a rack. I wouldn't mind at all if my son grew up to be a chef. At the very least he'll have an appreciation for the kitchen and cooking won't be a sissy thing to do. After all, he knows dad makes a great shrimp gumbo. :-) Great purchase.

We looked at numerous play kitchens for my child. After countless hours looking in retail stores and pouring over the internet, we decided on this one. The price was right and it had everything we were looking for. I couldn't be more pleased with this playset. It only took about 1 hour to fully assemble, and it wasn't that difficult if you can follow directions. My little girl loves it! The sounds and lights on the burners and the grill are really life-like and work very well. This thing is very sturdy too. My daughter likes to open the oven and dishwasher doors and stand on them. It hasn't even come close to tipping. It has enough little pots and pans and accessories to keep your child busy playing. The whole set is hard plastic and is very easily wiped and cleaned off, so no concerns for maintaining this set.The only problem we have encountered is that the little ice cubes sometimes get stuck in the dispenser. As usual, the purchase from Amazon was painless, and the delivery was fairly quick considering the size of the box it came in.

After doing a month or so of research on the kitchens, we decided to go with the Sizzle N Serve because of the grill. I read other reviews, so I knew what I was getting into before it came. Delivery was fast which is always nice! The kitchen took hours to put together, no joke! There were no holes in the kitchen for the doors! We had to drill holes just so the doors could be put in. And they still don't close right or line up. The ice machine doesn't work right, the ice never falls out. There's no hook for the phone, but there's a hole on the phone to hang. For the money, this should be made better! But I'll have to say.. the kids still love it!

My one year old and 3 year old love it. The grill is their favorite. They love to push the start button and hear the noise and see the flames. The microwave door doesn't fit properly, but I left it off for now and think we can make it fit later on. You can't fit much in the fridge. The ice maker takes up some of the room. The ice does not come out to well either. But, that doesn't seem to make any difference to my kids.

I had to wait a while after putting this kitchen together to write this review. It was a pain in the behind! The holes weren't drilled, you had to predrill or try and force the screw into the plastic parts with no pilot holes. This left some of the pieces not perfectly straight. One of the pegs that holds the cabinet doors on was broken off, now I have to make a warranty claim to get a new one. Finally, on my list of complaints, there are several pieces that DO have holes drilled for them with an anchor type peg on the piece that is to be inserted. These are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to actually get put together. The knobs on the oven/dishwasher still are not completely inserted. About five different people have tried everything to get them in and they won't go completely in, they are on a little crooked, but wont' come out, so I'll live with it, there's no other choice. I contacted Little Tikes and asked what how to fix them, no response. Very frusterating, I expected more out of Little Tikes. Now for the actual use of the toy. It's great. Pros: -Big enough for both kids to play with it at the same time -Kids love the noises the grill and stove make -Plenty of different things to keep them entertained -Taller and bigger than most kitches for taller kids -Nice looking enough that I don't even mind having it in my real kitchen -Plenty of storage for all the kitchen stuff (food, dishes, etc.) -Sturdy: both kids stand on the oven/dishwasher doors and they haven't broken yet -Grill is a nice touch -Lots of accessories Cons: -Assembly was terrible -Holes weren't predrilled -Easy to get pieces put together not straight -No customer assistance for putting together -Pieces arrived broken -Liners don't stay in the baskets, I just took them out for good Overall, I feel this is a good kitchen for the money, just be prepared for bumps in the road and PERMANENT small imperfections with no help from Little Tikes.

I have to start out by saying that our two boys absolutely adore this kitchen! Our one year old loves to open and shut the doors and push the buttons on the grill and stove top; while our 3 year old is using his imagination with the entire kitchen (and extra food we bought). However, the first kitchen we received had quite a few issues...missing 6 pre-screwed holes, the doors for the refrigerator, microwave, oven, cupboard, and dishwasher were tricky to close, and it was a tad lopsided. But when we called Little Tikes they replaced the kitchen with a brand new one that was almost perfect. It took exactly one week to get the new kitchen. Like many other reviews stated, the microwave door is still tricky to close and I think it's because of the mold at the factory that is being used (the door doesn't quite fit). But otherwise, it's great! And both kitchens, even the lopsided one, are very sturdy. Our one year old likes to open the doors for the oven and dishwasher and then stand and 'jump' on the open doors and it has never even come close to tipping over. I would highly recommend this kitchen!

I purchased this product for my 16 month son. A few hours after assembling the kitchen, I saw that the back left corner of the "dishwasher" was constructed so poorly that the plastic had holes in it. The dishwasher door also is defective -- it does not close properly. Also, the ice maker does not work; it's just a point of frustration. I wrote to Little Tikes to let them know about the defects. The reply was boilerplate and did not address my concerns. I returned the product for a refund since Little Tikes refused to listen to my concerns.

My daughter loves this kitchen. She loves the sounds it makes - the grill, stove, and knobs on the dishwasher and oven. She even makes a few of her own sounds to go along with it. She is only 2, her boy cousin, 5 years old loves it too! Keeps both of them busy for hours. If you are looking for a kitchen is one is for you. Ordering on Amazon was great - never had to leave the comfort of my home or fight the crowds in the parking lot or store for the perfect Christmas gift. Plus, no worrying about how to get it home. Came right to the door with no shipping costs!

I was leaning more toward a wooden kitchen set for our one year daughter but my wife convinced me to go with the plastic. This was an excellent decision after reading some of the other reviews on this product we were sold. Our one year old has to get on her tippy toes though for some things but she loves the drawers and cupboards and the noises from the stove and grill. She is hard on things but the kitchen set has held up to her roughness. I would definitely recommend this to any parent looking for a kitchen set for their child.

There are a ton of kitchens out there and they all have pluses and minuses. This one is great because it is durable, doesn't tip over easily, and makes a lot of great sounds. I want to focus on the negative aspects, because to me, those are the differentiators.Ok... the main problem with this kitchen is that there is NO SPACE to set anything down... there is a counterop space of about 4 inches square in one tiny corner. Yes, there is a ledge, and as long as you are willing/able to use the kitchen someplace not against a wall - so kids walk around, then that space stays available, but also who in the heck walks around their kitchen island to use the inconvenient side? No one, so to me, the space there is useless. (Plus the grill is there, so you have to walk around that too) Besides counter space... the frige has only one shelf, and the top of that shelf is rendered useless by the silly ice maker whish usually doesn't work. (when the door is closed, the ice maker takes up that entire space inside the frige. So, you have one compartment with a shelf about 3 inches deep, and 10 inches high to try to stack anything in there. Hmmm... Then you have essentially 3 cabinets - wich are: dish washer, oven, and grill. So if you have play food and you wanted to store it in your frige, no dice. (But you could store it in your oven and dishwasher, but that seems weird to me!) You do get two shelf compartments with baskets - I use one of those for dishes and the other one has food in it - but it's so small - the refrigerator items just don't fit there. There is also one additional cabinet - small but very useful above the coffee maker. We have very limited food items (about 25) and they don't all fit in these decribed places. So if you don't have a lot of extra space to store food items in a device you purchase in addition, this is a problem. If you have ample space, and an additional shelf unit with some baskets, then this is a cute way to solve the issue and make it far more functional. I am disappointed with the work space and the storage space. My two year old loves the kitchen though... and plays with it daily since getting it for Christmas. I would just like for him to have more food items, but I have nowhere to keep them!! The old kitchens had less gadgets but more storage and work space. I think I liked that better!! |
