We have tried lots of different types of sprinklers this summer for our 4yo, but they were all big disappointments. We actually purchased the Little Tykes from a local stuff-mart, and it is fab!
There are no moving parts, which is great because there is nothing to break. The water shoots out at just the right height so that my small 4yo can play without getting water shot straight in the face. (He *hates* that!) The balls are really fun when you get the water pressure just right, and you get some serious hang time!

I think this sprinkler is appropriate for a 2 year old (the water shoots very low, as does the water that trickles out the sides)...For a 3-4 year old, I think this sprinkler is a little on the young side. In addition, I was annoyed to have to keep moving the sprinkler to sit exactly upright at a 90 degree angle for the balls to pulse thru). It wasn't expensive, but I wouldn't spend it again if I had an older child (3+ years old) to entertain.

My two sons love this toy. It is perfect and they love to play with it on a hot day. Great and inexpensive toy for my 2 and 4 year old.

Bottom broke on first use
The plastic piece on the bottom that holds the sprinkler in the ground broke off the first time we used it. Not a durable toy.

Fun for the kids and dogs
