We tried this toy out in the stores and it was fabulous, better than expected! My daughter played with it in the shopping cart and when we tried to put it back on the shelf she tightly grasped the latern and shook her head no. She normally doesn't make a fuss over toys, so that made our decision to get it for her as a Christmas present this season. The songs/stories are a good length, not those short clips like with other toys. The nursery ryhmes set to music are great for her to listen to, she is very stimulated by music. The noise from the "pages" when they turn is a little loud like gears grinding, but it doesn't bother my daughter so it doesn't bother me. The size is nice too, from the picture it looks bulky but it is just perfect for her little hands to carry. I rate it an A+ toy!

My toddler loves this toy! It is really cute, a great way to learn nursery ryhmes, and a great distraction at diaper change time, too! The sound effects are funny to us, and it isn't an annoying thing to listen to a million times in a row. There is too long of a pause between pushing the button and when the story starts, my daughter will keep pushing it. Another review mentioned that it doesn't glow in the dark - it does, you just have to find the tiny page of stickers with the instructions when you open it. I nearly missed them, but they're in there and you stick them on yourself. Overall, a really entertaining, fun toy.

This is the best toy for any little one...shop around we bought it much cheaper than listed. Great education/motor skills...ours has been dropped numerous times and still works like new. Great gift...you will be pleased you bought it!!!

My 17-month-old must have his lantern, his Pooh bear and a glass of water to go down quietly. He will lie down and push the button until he gets sleepy. It seems a bit loud to me, but it doesn't seem to bother him. During the day he likes to set it in the middle of the floor and "dance" to the music. He liked it back when I had to push the buttons for him, and he likes it even more now that he can do it himself.

This is kind of a neat idea, with the sounds and sights of some of the most beloved songs of childhood, and a little picture book inside which turns when the child presses down on the little button on top of the toy. Of course, you'll need to keep a good amount of batteries around, because our girls wore it out within a couple of weeks. As they've grown older, though, it hasn't been as bad, but this is a nice idea. Parents, you may want to help them out in the beginning, but when they get the idea, they'll want to get this baby humming on their own.

My daughter loves this she is three and loves to sing so this item was right up her alley. She pulls it out and has a great time entertaining herself. She has dropped it, banged it and everything else and it is still going. Batteries since Dec 03 and have not changed them yet. Awesome.

My 2 year old loves this lantern. She brings it to bed with her every night (she has had this for about 6 months now), and has started singing because of it! She now knows all of the words and won't let me leave her room at night until we sing all the songs together. The sound, compared to other toys, is at an average level. When she has it resting on her blanket, it muffles the speaker to a perfect level for bedtime. We have never had a problem with durability (which has been tested many times by being thrown on hardwood floors). I will be giving this as a gift for both her cousins’ birthdays this year.

My daughter got this for Christmas last year. She really liked it at first, but after only a month of normal use it broke.

I would not suggest the Tune and Tale Lantern. You cannot hear the sound if the it is sitting on furniture or on carpet because the speaker is in the bottom of the lantern. It is not worth the money.

This toy is a great idea, but my 20 month old was more interested in the "nighttime/story" switch and would then get upset when nothing happened while pressing the top. It only works in story mode.

Now it has suddenly just stopped playing. The only reason I will go exchange it for another one is so her grandparents don't feel bad that it broke.
