Little Trucks With Big Jobs

Lots of kids love to wave and make a honking motion at a BIG truck so they will honk their horns, but those aren't the only trucks that youngsters are interested in. There are all kinds of little trucks with BIG jobs that really interest them. For example there is a small truck at the airport called a "plane tug" that moves the plane away from the gate so it can get revved up and onto the runway. Without this little truck we wouldn't get anywhere fast when we want to fly out. Another little truck is the street sweeper. Its "swirling brooms" sweep up all kinds of dirt and debris and keeps our streets clean.

Have you seen a telephone truck? Not a repair truck, but rather one that has pay phones that can be used at an "outdoor event or when telephone service is interrupted." Other more familiar trucks are garbage trucks and forklifts. Everyone, not just kids, enjoys watching the forklift maneuver it heavy loads. Some little trucks are commonplace and are seen frequently around town, while others like the Zamboni are usually only seen by skating and hockey fans. Some other trucks you'll see in here are the cable truck, a pickup truck, a mail truck, an ambulance, a city produce truck, a camper, a tow truck, a glass truck, and, perhaps most importantly of all, an ice cream truck!

This is a totally awesome book that younger children enjoy "reading" or browsing time and time again. Some of the pictures such as the pickup truck and camper are dated, but children don't seem to mind. The text is clear and perfect for the beginning reader. The photographs are vibrant and many of the trucks are seen in use. My copy has been read time and time again and if you consider adding this book to your shelves you can count on the same treatment!

The book was done in a two page spread style. One page had the name of the truck and a photo. On the opposite page was information about the truck.
Yes Preschoolers that are learning about transportation will love this book.

This book arrived and was the size of a Golden Book and was over $25. It would help to have the number of pages and size of the book listed on the site. I returned it!
