It's OK But if you want Jane herself...,

She just released "The Further Adventures of Little Voice" singing all of the songs herself. It's only released in the UK, but you can order it through 101CD.com. If you love Jane, GET THIS CD!!!

LV is sorely missed on this soundtrack,

I don't actually hate myself for buying this CD - it's an OK disc -, but it would have been nice to hear more of Jane Horrocks' interpretations of these pop classics instead of the original artists who can be found on other recordings. I was really hoping for an extended medley identical to LV's show-stopping debut in the movie. I'll probably listen to the video on my stereo TV more than I'll listen to this disc.

Great CD, if you get the 11 song release,

I was poised to get this cd from Amazon and then saw that this version only has 8 songs and lacks the 3 songs which are on the international release. I strongly suggest that you get the 11 song version from CDNow.com or some other type of store. That way you'll get the songs "Goldfinger" by Shirley Bassey, "Get Happy" by Jane Horrocks, and "There's no Biz Like Show Biz" by Ethel Merman and at the end of this 11 song CD, "It's Over" by Michael Caine is included as an uncredited bonus track! We Want More!,
By Corinne Robinson (Greensboro) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Little Voice: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful collection of songs and a fabulous CD. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the lack of Jane Horrocks. She was so amazing in the movie that she earned her place amoung the stars whose songs she sings. She deserves more recognition and more place on this album. This CD is worth buying for the wonderful music and the memory it brings back of such a fabulous movie. Let's hope there will be a second CD coming out later with more Jane Horrocks!

LV CD disappoints after inspiring film,
By A Customer

Extreme nostalgia is the only excuse for buying this CD at the full market price, like I did. I even looked at the contents first and was extremely disappointed to see that only two of the eleven tracks were actually performed by the remarkable Jane Horrocks. In the film she sang more.Probably as an apology for this, the makers of the CD have actually added a couple of pieces of sound track that are not even mentioned on the cover. The immortal Marilyn's foreplay to Nabokov-tribute "My Heart belongs to Daddy" is one of them, though this doesn't actually come into the film, except for the remote metaphor of LV's love for her dead father. The other one, perhaps somewhat predictably, is the ultimate demonstration of the fact that some actors really can't sing, but that that doesn't always matter, as Michael Caine brings the house down with a haunting "It's Over" (Orbison) for which I would really like to give an extra half Star to the technical team for providing an echo that really does sound like an empty theatre. As an ex-Stage Manager I know. But of course M.C. isn't famous for nothing, as he lets us know by putting his name in front of E.H.'s in the film's credits. All in all the CD doesn't do justice to the film. But if like me you found yourself stupidly weeping when in the next shop in some random canned popsong you hear a lady singing her heart out, then perhaps like me you'll stupidly go back and buy this LVCD. 'Cos there ain't going to be anything else to remember this memorable play and film by, I'm afraid. Penny Henshaw

Really Great, but......,
By A Customer

I'd have to go with the fact that this is a great soundtrack, but with two flaws: one great, one small. The glaring omission of Jane Horrocks' singing more of the tunes is unforgiveable. She did SUCH a great job in the film. (I mean, was she robbed of an Oscar nom or what?) And while there's nothing wrong with Judy, Ethel and Shirley, the fascinating thing about the film was that Jane did do her own singing. There should be more of it on the CD.The small flaw: That Tom Jones song. I mean really! It just doesn't belong there.

soundtrack, what soundtrack?,

I was getting ready to buy this cd when I looked at the song list and realized that only 2 songs are sung by Jane Horrocks. What's up with that? I agree with Wayne Z. The truly enchanting thing about the movie was Miss Horrocks wonderful ability to capture the essence of the original songs. Nothing against the originals, but unless they come out with a "soundtrack" that includes more of Janes fabulous work, I'll just keep watching the movie.

Sound Track? Not!,
By Wayne Z. (Delaware, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Little Voice: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The problem I have with this album is that I expect to hear the songs as recorded for the movie, "Little Voice". After all, it is a sound track recording, isn't it? Wrong. It is a deceptive compilation of recordings by the various artists whose songs are heard in the film rather than by the artist who actually sings many of these songs in the film. Many of the songs in the film are interpretations by Jane Horrocks, not by the original artist, yet only two of the songs on the 'sound track' album are recorded by Jane Horrocks. I was absolutely spellbound by Horrocks' performance and it was a great disappointment to discover that I could not savour her voice and songs on this album. If I wanted to hear the songs as recorded by Shirley Bassey, Judy Garland and Ethel Merman, I would have purchased their respective albums. I can only hope that Jane Horrocks produces her own album. Until then, I will purchase the VCR of "Little Voice" and listen to the talented Jane Horrocks. I give the 'sound track' recording one star for its content, and five stars if you care to consider its fraudulent content.

Wish that it had more of Jane Horrocks numbers.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Voice: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Greatly enjoy listening to the CD. The only short fall in it is that it does not include more of Jane Horrocks songs. The film producers pointed out that Jane had done her own singing so why not more on the CD. Also missing is Michael Cane's number. Would have liked to have had a true representation of the films soundtrack.

Great film shame about the CD!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Voice: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The film was brilliant and I really was expecting to hear J.Horrocks' singing the song!! (The credits at the end of the film made a note stating that she sang all the songs herself)-why didn't the CD represent this. I do feel a little cheated and conned by Miramax. Also Michael Caine's song wasn't even on the disc. Please get your act together and be more truthful about the music. Bring on Jane Horrocks!!
