5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Charles Lewis on November 10, 2011
Format: Paperback
Since the late 1980s, "A Little War of Our Own" has been the ultimate text on this epic, almost forgotten, story of the American West. Growing up in Northern Arizona, this book became a standard text on the history of the region and is by far the best volume of the Pleasant Valley War (also known as the Graham-Tewksbury Feud or Tonto Basin War). It is the classic story of bad blood between pioneer families that turns into wholesale slaughter and even inspired novelist Zane Grey to write a fictional account "To The Last Man" at a time when many of the real participants were still alive. Don Dedera brings to life one of the great forgotten feuds of the Old West, a violent chapter in history that makes the Earp Feud and the Lincoln County War look like mere schoolyard scraps. Well written. Almost lyrical in its style and presentation.
