From the Inside Flap

He shifted. She reached--their movements choreographed--as natural as if they'd been together forever.

Breathless, they slowed, connected, enrap- tured by emotion, their expressions the same.

"I love you," Wyatt said.

Lips crushed against each other as Charley let herself go.

Goodbye will be impossible.

More About the Author

Aimee is a romantic at heart and a southern transplant with a bit of the accent (but not a whole bunch). She's married to her high school sweetheart, and with him, she's produced three native North Carolinians, two of whom share the same DNA.

With an MBA and a degree in Applied Mathematics, there's absolutely no reason she should be writing romance novels. Then again, she shouldn't need a calculator to add two numbers, either ... but she does.

This book is full of action, it's embedded with mystery, and it's emotional all the way through.

I just had to keep going (one more chapter... one more chapter...) The characters drew me in and kept me involved and wanting to know what happens next..

Also key to the story are the relationships between the characters; especially between Charley and Wyatt.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, shape-shifters and secret government ops, you'll love Aimee Laine's Little White Lies. Told in the third-person, Little White Lies is about the "mimic" Charley Randall and her long-time love interest Wyatt Moreland. Mimics are true shape-shifters: they can take the shape of any person (and sometimes animal, depending on the Mimic) they see. Charley Randall has been shifting for over 200 years, using her talents and skill to aide in government operations, like combating child trafficking. She's made quite a name for herself and is generally sought-after.

Little White Lies begins at a heart-stopping pace, with a race to beat the clock up a mountain (yes, UP a mountain). It's immediately intriguing and captivating and held me from the first page. Charley is completely my kind of protagonist: sassy, independent, loving. Wyatt is masculine, smart and caring (who likes dumb characters anyway?). And Laine also gives us beautifully fleshed-out secondary characters whom you want to know more about: James, Lily, Cael, Maggie... I really want to know the story behind James!

There were a couple of things I was unsure about that disrupted the flow of the story a little for me. In one instance, Wyatt's mother has a different last name than he does, but I don't recall that being explained in previous pages. You also have to wait through about 50% Little White Lies to get details on mimics and their shifting abilities and limitations. Because of this, throughout the first half of the novel, I was left with a lot of questions and somewhat confused. However the story is told well enough that you want to keep reading it regardless of that.

Overall, if you enjoy paranormal romance and shape-shifters, you will really like this book. It's enjoyable, keeps a fast-pace and I definitely recommend it!

The author has created an intricate world for her characters. The reader finds himself drawn into the details of this world and the characters' abilities. Also key to the story are the relationships between the characters; especially between Charley and Wyatt. The suspense builds throughout the book as the story unfolds. Without giving too much away, there are some unexpected twists and a satisfying ending. I look forward to joining these characters in their next adventure.

I have not read a lot of romance novels, much less paranormal romance, but this book was GREAT! I enjoyed getting to know the characters and waiting with suspense to see how the love story would end. The tension between Charley and Wyatt was almost unbearable. I would be excited to read another book with these characters.

This book had me on the first page! I just had to keep going (one more chapter... one more chapter...)

The characters drew me in and kept me involved and wanting to know what happens next.. If you like the paranormal then this is for you. I love reading the paranormal or supernatural as an escape and Little White Lies definitely delivered, and I can't wait to see what Aimee Laine has in store for Lily, Cael, James Maggie, Sophie and Stuart!

WOW! This was an awesome story, read it cover to cover in ONE sitting because I could NOT put it down!

The main characters, Charley and Wyatt, are fabulous. I can visualize them in my head and feel like I know them personally. The supporting characters are amazing too. James, Lily, Cael and even Stuart each have their own story lines that intertwine beautifully with the main characters. I do hope we hear more from them soon. (Hint,Hint!)

I read a lot of paranormal romances and haven't seen anything quite like this. I love that this is a slightly new twist on shape shifting. (Wow- something new, imagine that!)

Definitely worth the read, you won't be disappointed!

Anyone who knows me understands that I care a lot less about the females of a novel (even if they're the MC) than I do about the males. If I can't connect with the main male, then you've already lost me.
Did Little White Lies deliver on this?
Oh, you betcha!
Not only did I find myself rooting for Wyatt, but also had an enormous soft spot for a secondary male character (of course, those secondary male characters are always helpful for drawing the readers in so they don't get peeved when the main guy falls in love and lives happily ever after, and leaves the reader with no hope of the shebang they have going on in their head, which oddly doesn't have the female MC in the vicinity ... and I'm rambling).
Back to business:
Wyatt is just lovable, yet strong, and tender, yet dominant--just the right dose of masculine in touch with his caring side.
Charley plays a powerful role for the female MC, and it's through her instinct to take the lead that we see Wyatt's character in full force in how he deals with her and whatever situation they're thrown into.
From the opening page, this has tension, excitement, and enough of a fast pace to drag your arse along on Charley's ride, and the story in its entirety deals with adventure, fear, emotions running high, love, soul mates, uncertainty & surety ... well, I think that's enough to go on, otherwise I'll end up giving you all spoilers, and we don't want that.
I do have one last thing to say, though: Read it. Love it. And expect to yearn for more from this author.
