My daughter and I read these together, they are fun, without being "inappropriate"! The characters are likable and well written! so hard to find suitable, fun things for this age group!

Good book, Bad Lesson,

This review is from: Little White Lies (Canterwood Crest) (Kindle Edition)
Usually, I love the Canterwood Crest books, an all the drama in them. But I feel that this book was a desperate attempt to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. First, I hate how this book encourages people "hey, tell a lie, and eventually you might just get what you want," (which Sasha does in one of the later books). Basically, Sasha destroys her friendship with Callie... over a boy. I mean, seriously? What happened to the old "friends before boys" thing? Basically, I think the message of this book is SUPPOSED to be "don't act like Sasha or you'll end up alone." But Jessica tried WAY too hard with this book. And she completly goes against that lesson when Sasha gets Jacob a few books later. Personally, I liked this book, but Sasha's selfish stupidity and the really bad "lessons" are really getting on my nerves.

Not the Best.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little White Lies (Canterwood Crest) (Paperback)
I read this book a while ago. I mostly like it.Sasha was confronted by Jacob in the last book about how much he liked her and wanted to be with her, even though he was already dating Sasha's best friend, Callie. Sasha wants that to be a secret and her insecurity about it is extremely sickening. I hated the ending - I loved the drama and such, but I was so annoyed that Sasha had to be the stupidest person ever just because she liked a boy, and that's not a good thing, because near the ending, when she was lying to Callie, she said that it was worth it to lose their friendship for a shot at Jacob. That lie made me sick, too, because I think that if I were Sasha and I didn't have feelings for Jacob, I would have told him to stop wasting his time, because he's not the one I have feelings for. The rest of the book doesn't get much better. Little White Lies is a book I think Jessica wasted her time writing. I've always loved her books and want to buy more, but I so wish that she could've written something that was worthwhile reading - Not because of a boy. So yeah, Sasha lies and yadda yadda yadda. Then I read Rival Revenge - It's not much different from this one. But then in Home Sweet Drama the annoyance turns up a notch - Sasha starts denying she has feelings for Jacob (There was an incident at Sasha's party, so she's not with Eric anymore) but she keeps saying that them being BF/GF will never, ever happen. But she still denies. In City Secrets I was happy to get away from the lies, insecurity, and drama. But in Elite Ambition Jessica introduced Brit, and the YENT tryouts for Julia, Brit, and Alison were coming up soon. I was glad there was a new character introduced, but I think it's just a way for Jessica to avoid the current problem. I find the .characters unnerving - I love all the characters, but there are also downsides. Not that I'm criticizing - Just pointing out facts. Sasha is pretty insecure and annoying. Paige is kind of.. bubbly. Airhead-ish. Brit is genuine. I like her. But Heather is my favorite character. I also like Julia and Alison alot. I was mad that Julia got expelled later in the series because of a blog and the little scene where Heather threatened her in Unfriendly Competition was too short. But anyways, I love the series and I love that Jessica is starting a new series (Which I hope isn't a fail) but some of it isn't really worthwhile reading. Hope this helped.

Sasha's torn after Jacob's announcement. It's not that she doesn't adore Eric, but the questions still linger in her mind of what might have been. Still, she's made up her mind and wants to be with Eric. It's been a little difficult not seeing him all summer. Plus her summer wasn't the greatest as she didn't perform as well as she would have liked at YENT camp. Now, her head's a mess. She can't tell Callie, but she wants to tell Paige until Paige has boy troubles of her own. Soon, she just starts lying to everyone about talking to Jacob. Will all the lies eventually catch up with her?
I *Love* this series, but couldn't believe the ending of the book - proving that friendship means more than boys in an odd sort of way. Waiting for Rival's Revenge to find out what happens next...

I'm soo MAD at Sasha!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little White Lies (Canterwood Crest) (Paperback)
First off, I do not think that this book is encouraging the reader to tell lies. Sasha feels really bad about telling lies and wishes at the end that she could fix what she did. But I did feel sorry for her because she felt that she couldn't tell anyone about her situation, not even her BFF,who deserved to hear what her boyfriend said to Sasha. I'm mad at Sasha for not telling Callie (her BFF) or Eric (her boyfriend) because it would have made the situation so much better! I think the book was well written, though. It prepares you for future books. The author has done better.

My daughter is 11 and loves to read this series. She has horses, but I'm sure it would be great for any girl who is into horses, even if they don't have their own. Actually, I think she likes the drama more than the parts about riding anyway!

So Many Lies,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little White Lies (Canterwood Crest) (Paperback)
I did not really like this book. I believe it is encouraging readers to tell white lies. She is really bad in this book, and it is inappropriate. Wy would a respected writer write something like this? I love the Canterwood Crest, but I have little respect for this single book. At least have a discussion with your daughter before letting her read this.
