More About the Author

Louisa May Alcott was both an abolitionist and a feminist. She is best known for Little Women (1868), a semi-autobiographical account of her childhood years with her sisters in Concord, Massachusetts. Alcott, unlike Jo, never married: "... because I have fallen in love with so many pretty girls and never once the least bit with any man." She was an advocate of women's suffrage and was the first woman to register to vote in Concord, Massachusetts.

My nine-year-old daughter loves this book, but I just want people to be aware that this book is a "specially adapted version by Lucia Monfried." It has 238 pages of fairly large type with illustrations added. I just saw that another version of the book (most likely the original) has 464 pages! Just wanted you to be aware and purchase the book that's right for you.

Very disappointed. Quality of paper is poor and the few illustrations contained within aren't worth the effort it took to print them. I rarely have to return anything to Amazon but this book I returned immediately.
