Sound of Steel pan and Marimba,
By Jennifer Jirak (Waucoma, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Little World of Rhythm (Audio CD)
I think that anyone who digs percussion will really enjoy this CD, there is a well incorporated variety of jazz and cultural music and background instruments. I can feel the pride and joy that the artists put into the music. To me, the sound of a steel pan and marimba playing together is exquisite and almost ethereal. My favorite track was 6. Ebeneezer's Day, because of the harmonies and direction of the music.

This album is just plain fun! The BMD provide a cool Caribbean jazz blend with a musical spirit that lifts the soul. There is passion behind these artists and a surprise at every turn.

I have gone to a percussion camp at the University of Iowa that had Moore and Britain as the clinicians. They are both fun and exciting to listen to. They have been two of the most influential people in my life. This C.D. really shows the musical bond between the two of them. If you love listening to total percussionist you will love this C.D.

Give us MORE! (Moore?),
By Sally M. (NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Little World of Rhythm (Audio CD)
Mat Britain and Dan Moore are creative, innovative, and exciting. The only thing better than listening to their recordings is actually seeing and hearing them live. (For those of us living in Cincinnati in the mid-80s, we were blessed to hear them performing a LOT!) This CD contains a wonderful mixture of styles, rhythms, and cultures. There are original compositions as well as BMD's arrangements of Gershwin, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis tunes. What talent! I hope they put out another CD... PLEASE!
