Take Your New Friend Everywhere You Go
With three AA batteries included, this organizer is ready to go right away. Just make sure to flip the switch on the back from "Try Me" to "Play" before you turn the unit on. The stylus pen and touch screen are easy to use, but you may have to help younger users get used to the motions that make their pet move. Though bubbles above the pet's head will let you know how to keep it happy.

The park is a good place to start having fun. There are 14 different games and activities to keep your child and her pet entertained. Each one lasts 60 seconds. Aim to pop the most balloons as they go by, or get competitive by playing fetch and tetherball. Touch the sign in the park to see the latest high scores.

When your pet needs a change of pace, head to the shop and pick out shoes, tops, wigs, and accessories for a pet photo shoot. Leading your pet all the way through the store can be a little tricky at first, but it gets easier with just a little practice. Once her pet is dressed, your child can pick out a favorite background and save up to four photos. Back in pet's room, one of these photos can be displayed on the wall. And don't forget to feed your pet, who is sure to be hungry after all those activities.

Practical Applications
Since your little girl will want to take her pet everywhere she goes, it's convenient that the unit doubles as a calculator, an address book with space for keeping tabs on new friends' birthdays, and a calendar that spans from now until December 31, 2010. You can even set fun icons to appear on special dates. A full keypad that works with the stylus pen makes adding notes easy.

Parents will appreciate the way this organizer encourages responsibility and planning ahead, as well as the fact that it's easy to turn off the Pet Shop's sound effects. While the pink plastic case seems quite durable, rough play could take a toll on the touch screen over time, so you may want to emphasize the fact that gentle pressure is just as effective as pressing hard on the screen and keypad.

As long as you and your child are prepared to spend some time exploring your new pet's world, and you're not put off by the simple graphics on this unit's gray screen, this digital pet is sure to provide hours of fun. And the organizer ensures that your child will find new ways to make use of this toy as she grows.

What's in the Box
Digital pet/organizer, stylus, and three AAA batteries.

I got this for my daughter for her birthday recently. She really likes it, but I have to say, that I am disappointed with Hasbro and the overall quality of the product. The pros and cons are as follows:

Pros: 1)nice outside case; 2)seems durable for the most part; 3)bright screen; 4)fun games to play with your pet

Cons: 1)the calendar only goes until 12/31/2010!!!! WHY!?!? Did Hasbro cut corners to save memory? Was it cheapo programming? Lame! Lame! Lame! It should have been programmed to go out at least 5 years from the manufactured date; 2)the calendar will not let you put multiple items on a day (for example: "soccer practice" as one item, "do spelling homework" as another item). It only lets you type 30 characters on any given day. I guess it's not that big of a deal, but it is annoying; 3)there doesn't seem to be any way to delete things off a particular day unless you go and use the backspace arrow for each individual character - this is a pain. There is also no way to copy something from one date to another; 4)It doesn't seem like you can save your preferences for your pet's room (carpet, bed, mirror) - but we may be doing this wrong, I'm not sure; 5)The buttons for typing letters and numbers are somewhat difficult to get to work and they sometimes miss putting the characters up on the screen. You have to tap them again and push maybe a little harder. Sometimes it takes 1 or 2 tries to get the right letter. Beware though, because if you push too hard you could break the plastic stylus; 6) The instructions are weak - they do not explain for example, how to set the current date - you have to go to the clock on the wall for that.

I guess for us, this toy is "ok". I expected a bit more.

I always hesitate to spend money on little gadgets because often they don't live up to my child's expectation and are quickly put aside after the newness wears off. My daughter really enjoys the organizer and even her Chicago cousin convinced her mom to buy one after playing with my daughter's. I highly recommend this toy!

My daughter bday was soon she will be 6 and I needed a gift, my niece who is 8 received the planner and loved it. M y daughter tested it out and couldn't get enough. I feel it is a great first electronic toy for a young child it has a calculator, phone book, calendar and games. Don't buy hand held video games try this one first it is good for children to get the hang of an electric device. It feels like a combination of a hand held video game and a phone that you can store info. I looked at many stores for this and no one carries it amazon had the best price. Shannon

I ordered this for my oldest daughter, age 8, and she loved it for a little while. That is until it started having electonic problems. She had to reset it quite a few times because it would lock up, and freeze up on her. Data stored would be lost so it became pointless for her to store phone numbers in the item. Not to mention the tip of the pen included is very easily broken to create a short in it connecting properly with the screen. Eventually through frustration she just quit using it and I will not be buying one for my other daughter. I wouldn't recommend this item due to the problems I've had with it.

My 7 year old say this in a store ad and it was her big "want" this year. it is like a child size version of an electronic planner. I think it is a little complicated for her since she doesn't choose to play with it that often. There are some games on it although they were a bit hard to find. Overall...a good toy, but could be easier to use.
