PreSchool-Grade 2-- Most's latest book on dinosaurs introduces preschoolers to the smallest dinosaurs, some of which were not much bigger than children themselves. What makes this book different from Simon's The Smallest Dinosaur (Crown, 1982), or most other dinosaur books is that Most compares the dinosaurs to familiar, similar-sized objects with which most children are well acquainted. Thus, a ten-foot-long Dravidosaurus would fit in a bus shelter, while a four-foot-high Lesothosaurus could probably wear children's clothing. The element of humorous fantasy (if a 20-inch Micropachycephalosaurus spelled out its name with blocks, its name would be even longer than the dinosaur!) is supported by Most's squeaky-clean illustrations, which together make this an excellent choice for story hour. An added benefit is that Most provides pronunciation guides to the dinosaur names, a helpful incentive for those who want to read this book aloud. --Cathryn A. Camper, Minneapolis Public Library
