4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, fun to use
I was worried because of all of the negative responses. When I finally got the package, I opened it and set the password. It was pretty easy. For the first few days, I was nervous that the magic would be lost. Then I figured out, if it does open to any word, it needs to be reset. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! This toy is pretty good for keeping secret notes. Just be sure to keep...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing Product
My daughter received this product for her 6th birthday. She was very excited because it was supposed to open only for her password. Well, it opened for every password no matter what you said or who said it. We tried to reset it over and over again hoping that it would actually work. It did once for a minute and then went back to malfunctioning. I exchanged it at the...

My daughter received this product for her 6th birthday. She was very excited because it was supposed to open only for her password. Well, it opened for every password no matter what you said or who said it. We tried to reset it over and over again hoping that it would actually work. It did once for a minute and then went back to malfunctioning. I exchanged it at the store for another one hoping that we happened to have a defective one. The second one, however, does the same thing as the first. It was very frustrating to have two in a row that didn't work. I told a friend about our problems with the product. She said that her daughter has one of these also and that it does not work properly. Anyhow, this appears to be a very poorly manufactured product and expensive to boot. I think that I have finally convinced my daughter to return this product and to spend her $20 on something less aggravating.

O.k my daughter who is 10 had been wanting one of these for a while so I decided to purchase one for her as a Christmas gift , I had read the reviews about it and most of them said it was a bad buy because the verbal password didn't work but the price was just GREAT I decided to buy 2 and hope for the best. Well Christmas came and they work GREAT in order for the verbal password to work you have to set it up in a EXTREMLEY quiet place it might take a couple of tries but other then that works great my girls love them oh and the pet is removable so one more pet they can play with add it to their collection.

My 6 year old loves this diary. I was worried at first because of the negative reviews, but this is very easy to program and works great! To sucessfully program the diary bring it in a quiet room and hit the reset button. Just make sure that your child uses their normal voice. After that it works wonderful. I can not open it even with the correct password because our voices are different and her brothers can not open the diary either. Add the cute factor of the diary this is an all around great toy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our's works perfectly. Super toy!, December 28, 2008

My 6 year old loves this toy. We had to try several times to get the password system working properly but now only she can open it. Her brother keeps trying but cannot duplicate the sound of her voice closely enough to fool the diary. We got this for 70% off but I think it is still a good deal even at 50%. We bought 4 more for future friend gifts...
To those who complain that it doesn't work properly. Use the reset button to try programming again and have the child say the code in a natural and easily repeatable fashion.

Bought this journal for my nine year old's birthday, she loves it! This is the present that she is constantly playing with, and a huge hit at the party. Great gift for the child that loves littlest pet shop and journals. Paper is a bit small, but refillable as it is clipped inside. Lock is voice activated and voice recognizable..definitely does growl and hiss at you when you say the wrong password and its the wrong voice. Glad I got this for my child!

I promised this toy to my 6 yr. old as a reward after 20 swimming lessons. She finally got it today and it didn't work. Unlike the reviews on this site, this product has received uniformly terrible reviews on the Target site; I'm curious about the positive reviews that are here. I called Hasbro and they said that this product was discontinued in March, although it is still being sold on the Amazon site, at almost no discount. Although the Hasbro rep said that the discontinuation was a marketing decision, I am convinced that it was discontinued because it didn't work. She's sending me a label so that I can return it in exchange for an item of equal value - although I think I'm going to return it to Amazon to get my money back. I don't want another product like this one. Don't waste your money and don't disappoint your child, as mine has been.

Bought this for my 9 year old daughter. She loves it. The cat is removable so she puts that with other Littlest pet shop toys. Really cute item.

my 9 year old got this for x-mas and was excited about it and the little kitty inside meows and growls and all that, but it does not "guard" your diary and will open to any word you tell it, as i have read in previous reviews. i managed to get this on a great sale, so i didn't mind too much about that but it isn't worth more than 10 bucks and anyone who would pay 25 bucks for it will be very disappointed.
