We bought this for our 6 year old. She is just starting to read, so my husband and I find ourselves having to sit with her and read every thought bubble. The problem with this is, most conversations are full of ridiculous jokes and extra reading to make one point.
The graphics are cute, the idea (the pets throwing a surprise party for a new friend's arrival) is a good one. The scenery and games are also fun for my daughter. While the previous Pet Shop game was mostly wandering around and playing games, this one is more task oriented. I am curious as to what lies behind the surprise party, because it will be anti-climactic if that is the end of it all. However, by then, maybe all this silly conversation will die down and more game playing will happen. I would rather the pets talk themselves than to have a lot of reading to do. If they would like to pretend that it is helping my child read, the speech would not be as goofy and the words would be less 'cutesy'. So sure, she loves it, we hate it.

Littlest Pet Shop Friends for the Wii was a huge hit in our house. My little party planner had a great time getting ready for the "party of the year" with her pet friends. This was one of those games I had to keep telling her she'd been playing too long. And, if you have kids you know that's a major indicator that the game was pretty cool. I like that it's a multi-player game that caused the kids to do some problem solving. There is a lot of reading (as mentioned in the other reviews), so be prepared to read if your child is younger than 2nd grade.

This is a very nice game, but there is way too much reading for younger players. If your kid can't read proficiently, be prepared for hours of pet puns and cutesy banter that barely server to move the game along. Hopefully you can convince your kid to keep mashing the A button so you don't have to read every word.

I was very excited for this game, especially since the first one was so great. But this is a very disappointing game. The graphics are great, but the game is terrible. Unlike the first game, the minigames in this are not fun at all, and rather tedious. There's only 1 minigame I actually enjoyed, and even then, it was not as fun as it could have been The 30+ animals in the first one have been cut down to like 10 in this version, which is very disappointing. The controls are atrocious, and it's very hard to control the pet. I did not like running around constantly to grab certain items, as you would have to have certain pets to do certain things, such as getting apples off trees, or digging items up out of the ground. They could instead have been turned into minigames that were actually fun. The dress up option was possibly the worst part of this game. It was way too frustrating, for example, you would attempt to take off a hat your pet was wearing, only for it to stay there. You could even put another hat on your pet, while it was wearing the same hat. It even caused some strange glitches to happen.
However, this game did have one good point. It's a multiplayer game! But even then, the multiplayer still ends up being one of the drawbacks. While walking around the areas, if the second player strays too far away, the game will stop whatever you two are doing just to pull you two together, and that was very annoying. The minigames did not become any more enjoyable with a second player. Stick with the first and do not get this one.

I really thought that my 5 year old daughter would love this game, but she doesn't. It features cute little pet shop characters and since the pet shop toys are intended for kids her age, I thought the game would be too. My daughter enjoys games like Cake Mania on the PC and this game has mini games that are similar, but it is too hard for her to control and she gets upset when her time starts running out, it made her cry one time. I even had trouble keeping up on one of the mini games as I am new to the Wii and aiming is something I need to practice more. I think the game would be great for a 7 or 8 year old, but then the subject matter may be to "babyish" for kids that age, I'm not sure. I gave it 3 starts because I think that a kid who is into the Pet Shop toys and who can aim well with the Wii-mote would really enjoy this game. My kid gave it her best for about 20 minutes before giving up. We are exchanging it today for a different game.

My 6-year old daughter received Littlest Pet Shop Friends for Christmas. It was highly anticipated, since she loves the first Littlest Pet Shop Wii game. She is a proficient reader (which is a must for this game), so she enjoyed the animal conversations and written instructions. The graphics are cute, the concept is great, and she thoroughly enjoyed the game. However, this game is very linear (go here, play this...then go here, play that) with a singular mission of planning a party.
She completed the game in 6-8 hours, max. She played the same game again with a second sign-in and completed it in about 3 hours. She is completely finished with the game and has no interest in it anymore. We are pretty disappointed that there wasn't more to this game; she kept asking if there were any more parties should could plan. Not a bad idea...wish the developers of the game would have thought of that!

Sorry to be redundant, but it is a little heavy on the reading, which wouldn't be that big of a deal, except for the fact that my daughter just started kindergarten and can't read any of it. Also, there are many "dead" spots as you go along and around the paths that cause either one or both pets to freeze. Therefore, you have to restart the game every now and then. Other than that, my daughter really loves this game.

My daughter got this for her 5th birthday. She loves everything Littlest Pet Shop, so this was on the top of her birthday wish list. She really loves playing all of the arcade games. Some of them are a bit tough for her, but she is getting better and better. When in the story mode where you have to complete different task, the only negative is that you need to be able to read to know what the animals are saying. Each of the animals will make animal sounds and the screen displays what they say, which is cute. However, for a child in Pre-K that isn't reading yet, she needs a parent or older sibling to help her read everything. She of course doesn't mind, but I would prefer that I don't have to sit there constantly while she is playing. All in all this is an adorable game that any Littlest Pet Shop fan will treasure!

...unless you like to read every single interaction between pets to your kids. every interaction the characters in the game have with each other has written speech on the screen, but the pets only make pet noises. So if my daughter is playing i'm reading. great idea ea games/hasbro. the toys are marketed to 4-8 year olds. yet the game has writing geared to 7yrs or greater...

I bought this game for my little girl's 8th birthday and she absolutely LOVES it. The game has a whole lot of fun games that the child can choose from and it will keep them busy for hours. Another cute thing about the game is that they get to dress up each pet they adopt with all kinds of accessories. Its like their old WII The Littlest Pet Shop game but with newer pets and different games. So I say this game was well worth my $40 especially when I saw my little girl's eyes light up when she opened up the gift. =)
