I just bought 3 of the LPSO for my 3 kids, and what I expected was that it would work in sync with the VIP pets. Now, usually I check reviews and such for products, but I didn't think that was necessary so I'm hoping this will help someone from making the same mistake I did. It took me quite some time to even figure out the LPSO and VIP pets were different, only when I decided to try [...] did I realize that not only the sites are different, but that VIP is, I believe, run by hasbro, where LPSO is run be EA.
The LPSO site is not intuitive at all and the setup process is ridiculous, it took me about 15 tries for me to create a username for my daughter that the site thought was "acceptable", apparently "princess" is profanity. After I got the 3 of my kids accounts set up, plus the parent account, I had to register their pets, which either hasn't worked yet (I entered the code but the pet doesn't show up - I still have to call customer service) - or - they give you 3 pets to create on your own, so maybe you're supposed to create a carbon copy of the pet you bought? (Which you can't - because it doesn't have patterns like the pets do) If that's the case then my kids will be heartbroken when they find out that they can't actually have their pet they picked to play online. They also give you a "free" pet to create - which my daughter was excited about - til we found out that we had to become a paid member to create it. Another heartbreak moment - thanks EA. Next, the "world" they have to play in is so small that it's pretty much useless. The kids were bored within 1/2 hour - you have to pay the $7 a month to explore the whole map from what I can tell, unless I'm missing something, but I work on websites for a living so I'm not an inexperienced user. Oh, I forgot to mention that you can't use your VIP pets on this site so plan on starting a new collection for the kids if you already have a VIP collection like mine do. They're pretty upset that they can't use their new pets on the VIP site, which is a million times better and way more fun if you don't way to pay a fee. Ok, I could probably go on, but you get the picture - hope this helps someone.

The website for creating these can be kind of confusing. Before you decide on these you should know.
1) You do not get a carbon copy of the pet you bought. You have the opportunity to create a pet of any type among the models available on the website. The website game doesn't have all of the animal models available in stuffed animals. (No panda, for instance.. bummer. So if you are hooked on playing as a panda, no love for you.) 2) When you enter your code, you are entitled to a pet but it doesn't show up immediately. You still need to create it. If you choose the "free" pet option at this point, you will only have limited access to the world (you'll have the free access that anyone can get by registering at the website). If you click the silhouette of a pet/ create a pet option, and then you use that pet to enter the website, you will have FULL access for one month. Despite what other reviews said, we got full access without subscribing and, after one month, weren't interested enough to pay the subscription fee, but still sometimes play with the free access we still have. 3) You DO have to create two separate accounts. One for parents, to control the account, and then an associated one for the child to log-in. 4) If you enter a user name for the account that has already been taken, you will get a generic error that says the name was denied for profanity. It isn't necessarily that the name is profane, just that it is not allowed (probably because it is already taken) and so the game throws this generic (and erroneously worded) error. Just choose a different name. Try adding numbers at the end if you like. Hopefully what we've been able to find out after scouring [...] will make the frustrating process less troubling for other first time buyers.

We have bought the VIP pets in the past for our daughter. Well, these LPS versions have their own world in which you are only allowed to play in for a total of 30 days total. Even if you buy several animals, unless you make new accounts for each of them, you are limited to 30 days. It took 10 days before I found out that they had changed this site so you made your own pet using some currency. So my daughter will only get to play for 20 days now with all her pets. After that you have to pay a subscription. The process of putting the animal online was so cumbersome that it took me over 30 minutes of my time. Do NOT buy these lame toys.
