The game we've been waiting for!!!,

I'd give this game 10 stars if I could! We've been waiting 9 months for a game like this!
We got our Wii for Christmas last year, and each of our kids got a game. My then 6-year-old daughter got Pet Dogz2 -- BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER!! She hated it from day one. She wanted a game with animals that she could dress up and play games with, Pet Dogz2 was NOT it. And she hasn't found anything that's fit the bill since. Until now. She's now 7 years old and Littlest Pet Shop is her dream come true for Wii. She gets to pick out the pet she wants, dress it up, name it, walk it around the "town," and play games with it to earn Kibble which she can then use to buy other pets and items (clothes, toys, etc) for her pets. If your daughter likes animal games, Littlest Pet shop toys, Webkinz, etc. I can't recommend this game enough!

Great for a little Girl!,

My daughter got this game for her 6th birthday and she loves it. She has been playing My Sims and enjoying it but this is perfect for a young girl. She loves to play dress up, so being able to dress her pets, buy them pretty things, and name them is pure joy for her. She needs some help with reading now and again (and spelling the new pets names) but otherwise she does just fine playing this game. She has figured alot of things out without my help, how to feed and pet them, unlock worlds which has given her a sense of satisfaction. This game would drive me insane but for a young girl it seems to perfect.

FINALLY! A fun wii game for little girls.,

My daughters 5 and 7 totally freaked over this game. Finally, a fun girl game for the wii. You get to collect pets, earn 4 different "zones" to play in, tons of mini games, and dress up galore.
If you are looking for a gift for girls age 5 - 8 this is a no brainer. My five year old would have played this 24 hours a day if I would have let her. My only complaint, the game is easy to "finish". It took my five year old only a week to get all the pets, all the areas and most of the items. However, the game can be picked up again for the mini games and change of outfits.

Crack for Littlest Pet Shop fans,

My daughters (6yo and 10yo) love playing with Littlest Pet Shop figures and they LOVE this game. It is the first time I have seen the younger one want to play a game for really long periods of time.
That having been said, the game is pretty simple: you move around a garden playing simple games to collect money to buy more pets. But the mechanics are good in the sense that the game is playable for the target age. There is some reading required, but not so much that the game is unplayable for a beginning reader. The Wii controls for motion work smoothly, and there is some "maintenance" you have to do for the pets (feeding and so on), but not so much that it overwhelms the rest of the game. And, of course, for reasons that pass understanding, they find the pets irresistibly cute. So, in short, this is like a lot of other games targeted at this age group (Webkins or Animal Crossing, for example): limited storyline, more about buying things than would be my preference, but well-designed for kids and a good way to get comfortable with some of the mechanics of gaming.

This game is a lot of fun, and never gets boring. You need to take care of your pets, feed, dress, play and even scratch them. Plus the animation on the game is so wonderful and really brings the animals personality out. This game is a lot of fun.

We got the Wii this year and I got several games for my girls but this one in particular seems to be a hit with them. I have four girls ages 4-9 years of age and there isn't a one of them that doesn't like this game. Hours of fun for them. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to buy this if you have girls, especially girls that love petshops!

Need to be able to read for independent play,

I bought this game as a gift for my 2 girls (ages 4 and 6) and they seem to love it. The animation is very cute and they love being able to dress up their pets.
However, there are soooo many boxes that pop up giving instructions, so if your child cannot read, this would NOT be a game they could play themselves. I sat down and played with my 4 year old and read her the instructions as they popped up, but even then, there were so many boxes and "thought bubbles" to click on to get where you are supposed to go and buy what you are supposed to buy, I can see how it could be very confusing! We also have the Barbie riding camp game, and while the instructions pop up on the screen, they are also played audibly so even if the child cannot read they can still play independently. My girls do love this LPS game, it has a fun concept, my six year old can play just fine, but I only give it three stars due to the reading aspect, and also what seems like complicated game play.

Definitely do not by this if your child cannot read. There are pop-ups all the time which you must stop to read and they interfere with game-playing. It is difficult to maneuver the remote to select icons. My 5.5 year old is a whiz at Super Mario Bros. and Mario Cart but this one is frustrating even for me.

I have to admit, when my four year old wanted to use some gift money on this game, I was hesitant. She's not yet reading, and some of the reviews note there is a lot of text involved.
I was pleasantly surprised after about half an hour of set-up and play, my four-year old mastered all the controls and mini-games, and now plays by herself- no reading necessary. It's a very sweet game. Basically, players can choose pets, dress them up, and explore different worlds and activities. It holds my daughter's interest without becoming frustrating for her. Great game for little girls, and I highly recommend it. |
