The doll is cute and we love the changable wigs, but we have been unable to log into the website which was a big draw in purchasing the doll. Their technical support is only available Monday through Friday which means we are unable to log her in until at least tomorrow.

I must admit, when my daughter first started asking for this dolly, I was a bit skeptical. I thought the glass eyes looked bizarre, but my daughter insisted that she wanted it, because of the different wigs. I have to say that once we got the dolly out of the package, it's actually really cute! My daughter loves the fact that she can pose so many different ways. And a BIG PLUS: Barbie clothes fit nearly perfectly on her! It's fantastic! The dolly only comes with one set of clothes, so I'm very happy she has all these other little outfits to dress her up in.

My girls just HAD to have this doll after they saw an ad for it on TV. They had enough allowance money saved up, so I let them get it even though I thought it was a bit pricey for a small doll. The doll is the same size as a barbie doll. While it is a good doll, and obviously MUCH better made than a regular barbie doll, it is still none the less a barbie doll. One very nice feature is that all of her joints move, so you can put her in more positions. She will sit in a chair, bend over, etc. Even though they say she can stand on her own, we were unable to do that. She does have very nice hair and you are able to change it out with a wig they give you. Plus her hair is nice enough to braid it, brush it, etc. My girls loved it for about the first hour, and then were like, "that's it"? The doll has been sitting under their bed ever since. They want to have more clothes now, but given the prices on those, I don't see it happening for a while. My reasoning for giving it a 3 vs. a 5 is that I think it is just a bit over priced for what you get.

I am a collector and a doll hobbyist. I am always looking for new dolls to make clothes for and I was bummed out that Bratz are being discontinued. So I decided to buy a Liv doll. I found the glass eyes creepy at first because they were so human-like. Now that I am used to them though, I find them simply beautiful. In fact, this has become my favorite feature of the dolls! The eyes have such depth and realism, they almost seem to follow you. Katie has very bright GREEN eyes. Kudos to the artist who designed them! The eyes are TOTALLY COOL!
The face has a lot of detail and light, subtle makeup. They look WAY more wholesome than Bratz. Liv dolls look and dress like real teen girls and each has a story and 'personality' all her own. I think this is a great quality product and I am anxious to see how well it sells. I like the fact that the doll can be posed. Even the wrists and ankles bend and it is possible (but difficult) to make the doll stand up on her own. I can see this being a real win with girls who sew clothes, take photos or make videos! Katie comes with an extra wig, which was easy to change and attaches securely with a plastic pin in the top of the head. Katie came with a long wavy brown wig and a short brown straight one with green streaks plus a wig stand. The good thing too, the dolls don't look bald when you remove the hair, instead they have a short 'pixie' cut painted on the head itself. This eliminates the problem of little girls with scissors. For one, if they want super-short hair they can HAVE it by removing the wig. Secondly, when little ones mutilate the hair (like my sister did to MY dolls as a kid!) no problem...Parents can simply BUY another wig! They sell inexpensive packs of wigs separately in a variety of colors and styles. This is good for hobbyists because we can change hair, cut it, style it, etc. This could also be a great learning tool for girls who dream of being hairstylists...VERY COOL! My sister and I would have LOVED the wig idea as kids! The wholesome Liv look will please the mommies but I am not sure about the kiddies. If I was a little girl, I would want more "flash" and maybe some pretty dresses, gowns etc. Liv dolls are dressed in "normal" everyday clothes like hoodies, jogging suits, leggings etc. I truly believe it is possible to make tasteful and glamorous doll costumes that are age appropriate too! I know this is a new line of dolls but I was a little disappointed with the lack of originality regarding clothing. Even the extra fashion packs didn't seem to have anything outstanding, just more "normal" clothing, nothing fancy. I logged onto the website and was unimpressed. Girls today are smart and internet savvy. I can see how they might get bored on the website. You quickly run out of fun activities and you have to BUY each doll in order to get the access code to her story. Katie's story was not very detailed and there aren't many pictures and only a few 'diary' entries. I think the site could be a little more interactive. Simply put, there isn't enough stuff on the website! They need more games, updates and activities to keep girls of today interested! I do think that the doll's beauty and squeaky clean image will make it a big hit this Christmas. The Liv line needs some work but I think if sales are good, we can look forward to more Liv products. I personally would LOVE to see some Liv houses, horses, cars and prom dresses etc...as well as a better site! I commend this company for their commitment toward wholesome 'sweet' looking dolls. I think it is a welcome change in the doll world and I think moms will agree. I am very happy with the Katie doll and I am looking forward to giving her a makeover! I do hope Liv dolls sell well. This company has a great start and great potential. In spite of the boring clothing and ho-hum website, I don't have the heart to take a star away from them. The doll itself is so beautiful and being that I sew doll clothing, I would change the clothing anyway so it doesn't make a difference to me! To collectors and hobbyists: This doll may be worth something one day and has good packaging and is attractive to look at. To parents and gift-givers: The doll is good quality, has a nice 'clean' look and is a great value for the price...To girls who love dolls: LUCKY YOU! I would have LOVED these dolls as a kid! Liv has my vote as Best Dolls of 2009! Happy Holidays to all!

Very Nice Play Doll!,

I am reviewing this doll as an adult doll collector and an aunt to two girls ages 4-9. This is a very well made play doll. I love her changeable wigs and her trendy clothes. It is really easy to change the wigs and I think the whole concept is brilliant. I was always cutting the hair off my dolls and with this gal, kids can do that and then start over with just a 4.99 replacement wig.
It is best to be able to go to a store and hand pick these dolls because some of the eyes are set better than others. Most of the "Katie" dolls look good, but I saw a few "Sophie" dolls that had poorly placed eyes and looked a bit scary. These dolls are very well jointed and fun to set up in different poses. I have never seen a play doll with a double knee joint before and I think girls love the new positions that this joint allows. I would say that these dolls are better suited to slightly older girls, maybe 6-10 year olds. The web site seems silly, but I honestly don't think a doll should need a web site to be lots of fun. I see these Liv girls offering a lot of independent play possibilities because of their innocent yet pretty faces and their neat personalities. While I would never buy some of the other brand dolls for my family because of their heavy make-up and questionable clothes, I happily purchase the Liv dolls for family and friends because I think they strike a nice balance of being cool while not being offensive or too adult. Not only that, they have a certain appeal even to me, an adult with a lot of really expensive artist dolls. I am anxious for even more clothing and wig choices. A great choice for that little girl in your life. Just don't play up the website.

My daughter got this doll for her birthday. The doll is very nice, and it is neat that her joins are articulated so she can be posed. However, one of the main reasons she wanted the doll was to play on the website. After we got her logged in (if the parent e-mail used is a yahoo account, be sure to check your spam mail for the activation link), we found that the only thing you could do on line was change her white pants to green, and change her striped shirt to a white shirt. Thats it. No games, no interactive features. NOTHING!! There are several links in the doll's room that say "coming soon", but for now, we were highly dissapointed in the online play area. Would much rather play on Webkinz website.

Sophie Liv Doll is pretty but her wigs won't stay on!,

Got the Sophie Doll for my 6 year old niece. The Sophie doll is pretty, is bigger than a Barbie, and is very flexible at all joints. The packaging was ridiculous to extract the doll. Had to use scissors and still couldn't get all of the many plastic secures off. The doll is great except for the strange hair attachments for the wigs. Once the wigs are pulled off they are difficult to get back on again (they are secured via a peg that goes into a hole in the head of the doll! The wigs didn't seem secure once we took them off and put them on just 2 times (and I was helping her!). The wigs did stay on but not tightly. My niece loves the overall look of the doll but with the hair/wig issue I can't imagine this product being popular in the long term. If my niece can't handle the wig attaching, I predict soon the doll will just stay bald with a hole in her head!

This is a great little doll. It has articulating joints that make it very 'posable'. My 9 year old has decided it is wayyyy better than either Bratz or Barbie. The removable wig is a bit odd but easier to love than those Bratz with their big heads, immodest clothing line and freaky eyes & lips. We will be purchasing these dolls in the future instead of the other brands.

I gave this to my niece for Christmas. It's Valentine's Day and she is still playing with it. I would say it's a WINNER! Comes with a product code that allows her to create an account and play Liv World games online (change her outfits, eye-hand coordination games... age appropriate stuff).

My daughter has 60 barbies (crazy) and the Liv dolls are the ones she likes the best. They are dressed "hip" and all their joints move so they are easier to dress altogether. I wish they made more than just four!
