The talents of Garaj mahal are enough to entertain anyone who enjoys the funkier variations of jazz, but this CD features a very special guest: Zakir Hussain on tablas! He adds such a mystical, trancendental quality to the complex rhythms of the band. The best things about electric jazz and global percussion are found on this disc!!!

The furious fusion of Garaj Mahal,

Garaj has been blessing my brain for some time now. What makes them so great? The parts; Fareed Haque on guitar is blazingly fast but always has swing, Kai Eckhardt on the bottom with the fattest tone, Alan Hertz with his supple and elastic drums that can snap a song into pure greatness, Eric Levy on keys, soulful.
But the whole is more than the sum; Garaj Mahal has a furiousness to their playing that brings to mind an express train. Their sound can dominate the synapses like no other band. |
