AC/DC's Best: Live,
By
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This is an extremely good album, one of the best live releases ever, I'm speaking of the 2 CD version. The single disc version is good, but the double one takes it over the top, with a near 15 mintute version of Jailbreak plus lots more older Scott-era stuff and more stuff from The Razor's Edge. Angus Young is especially good on this album, all his solos are awesome, especially on the three extended ones: Jailbreak, High Voltage, and Let There Be Rock. It's probably the definitive AC/DC album, not the best but the one with the most variety and best selection of songs.

If you buy only one AC/DC album, buy this!,

This was one of the best purchases I ever made in the CD department. I have contemplated the purchase of more AC/DC albums, but I always find that I decide I have enough AC/DC as it has all the greats and then some. I am a casual fan obviously, and I truly think that unless you really love the band, you'll be plenty happy with this amount.

By far AC/DC's best CD.,

This CD is a jam packed 23 song Live album. It is almost like a greatest hits album, but live. This collector's edition version is better because the one that isn't has only 14 songs. So I suggest buy this album if you want their best album ever and buy it instead of the normal AC/DC Live CD which has 9 songs less.Every Song on this CD would get a 10/10, but the best songs are Back In Black, Thunderstruck, TNT, For Those about To Rock (We Salute You), Let There Be Rock, The Razors Edge, Who Made Who, Highway To Hell, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Jailbreak. This is a definite must buy for rock lovers and people getting into rock.

IN 1992 AC/DC RULED THE PLANET!,

Its true. Some may say it was in 1980 but they are wrong. It was in 1992. These guys were fresh off their extensive tour that backed the 1990 RAZORS EDGE album that tore everything up. This may be considered AC/DC's finest tour ever (unless you are like me and completley loyal to BON-but still, I think this was a damn incredible tour, as far as this disc proves.) The early nineties don't get credited for it but I think it was the time when ROCK really reigned supreme. Every type of rock, old, new, grunge, hair, metal.... It all came together, and at the helm was AC/DC. BRIAN JOHNSON (although he fronted BACK IN BLACK) still had never earned the respect of most BON SCOTT fans until this live album came out. This is where he proved that he could do the BON songs justice SIN CITY, WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE, LET THERE BE ROCK, just to name a few. The band also busted out some of the not-so-killer eighties material in a new loud and ass crunching style THATS THE WAY I WANT MY ROCK AND ROLL and HEATSEEKER.. check those out. And not to mention the blazing tracks just turn it up several more notches and the energy is CRAAAAAAZY on everything. AC/DC weren't getting old in '92, it sounded like they were just getting ready! This collectors set is key. DO NOT get the single disc, they should take it off the marrket now that this one is available.. IT has so much more stuff, and when you realize how GOOD it really is.. you will understand. I bitch a lot about how AC/DC screws the american consumers; on this album though.. they did us solid, god bless.

While I did appreciate certain AC/DC tracks, I nevergot around to buying an AC/DC album for some reason. Well, one day I was out with my friend, and looked at the tracks on the album before deciding it was worth checking out. Anyways, my friend borrowed it from me first and said he was very impressed with what he listened to. Well, that didn't necessarily sway me one way or the other, because his taste in music and my taste might differ at times. Well, when I heard this disc I was very impressed with each and every track. Some artists sound horrible live compared to their studio albums or on TV or video. AC/DC sounded great on this live 2CD set. The raw energy and passion they have on the stage combined with their onstage theatrics have made them concert favorites for years is exhibited on this album. They are the type of band that gives everything into their performance until they are essentially drained and exhausted afterwards. However, the reward is they gave a superb performance that satisfied the fans. Thunderstruck is a raucous, high voltage, in your face type of song that gets to the point of the matter. If you don't like raw, unpolished singing, then stay away from this track and AC/DC in general. If you like singing that conveys the emotion of the song and you like it loud, Thunderstruck is your type of song. I could go on and on about the strengths or weaknesses of each track, but keep in mind that album clocks in the neighborhood of 130 minutes or so. Considering there are 23 tracks on this version, which I would recommend over the single disc Live album, that works out to nearly 6 minutes per track on average. I felt like I was at an AC/DC concert, even though it was just in a CD player. I wonder if AC/DC has a VHS/DVD version of this album. It might be worth picking up, based on the two disc set alone.

Best live album. Ever.,
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
When I bought this cd, i had already been an acdc fan, but i wasn't very in to them. Then i popped this cd into my sterio and i was immediatly hooked by the incredible guitar playing and chanting of thunderstruck. I kept listening to find the best guitar playing you could possibly hear, and just the sheer power of acdc live. I had listend to there recorded stuff before, but it was nothing in comparison to acdc live. The recorded music seemed bland compared to this. Here is a list of the top 5 tracks from each disk.
-Thunderstruck(track 1, disk 1) an incredible start to the album. -Back in Black(track 3, dist 1) i can't get enough of this song. -Sin City(track 4, disk 1) Johnson hits the volcals perfectly. the guitar solo blows me away. -Who made who(track 5, disk 1) great song. Period. -Money Talks(track 12, disk 1) more melodic than most of there songs. The chorus is so great though. -Hells Bells(track 1, disk 2) One of the greatset works of acdc. Sounds soooo good live. -You shook me all night long(track 5, disk 2) A melodic masterpiece of heavy rock. -Highway to Hell(track 9, disk 2) I simply love this one. -TNT(track 10, disk 2) My favorite acdc song. The crowd chanting Oui! gives the song a great feel -For those about to rock(track 11, disk 2) A great end to a great cd. If you are reading this reveiw you are taking to long. Go buy this cd!!!

The best available recording from AC/DC. ALIVE!,

But I'm still looking for a CD release of "Bon Scott's Last Oui Oui", the real best live play from the group. Hey bootleggers, where are you? Hey Angus, did you know that Ozzy's "Tribute to Randy Rhoads" was firstly released as a bottleg and then he turned it as a official release? What are you waiting for?

Great Live AC/DC, when they ruled the rock roost,
By Wiseguy 945 (Cedar Rapids, IA) - See all my reviews

This double live album was release after recording it on their highly successful "Razor's edge" tour. AC/DC was at another high point with the release of that album, and they cashed in big with this awesome live set. Brian johnson tears it up, and angus is kicking away as usual on guitar. Classic AC/DC capturing their live spirit, You must have two disc version for any fan. For Bon scott era Live music, pick up the Bonfire box set. You get 3 Bon Scott live albums, a rare/demo disc, and Back in back, a great value.

The best...,
By Dylan DePippo (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
I loved this album. The tracks were much better (selection wise) compared to the puny "Live" (non-collectors edition). Dont even waste money on "Live" when you can get the much improved "Live 2 CD Collectors Edition". There are much more songs and much more worth the extra bucks. The highlights of this album are that Chris Slade is on this one (Phill Rudd was not in the band at the time this was made) no offense to the great Phill, but Chris had the skills more than him. Also, the energy is big on this one, you feel like Brian is screeching at you in your room. I can't wait to get the DVD edition of this album, knowing how awesome this CD was. There is only one problem: Brian. His voice wasnt as shot as in the "Stiff Upper Lip" DVD, but it was getting there. He could of done much better with "Shoot To Thrill" and "You Shook Me All Night Long". Instead of hitting the long words (when the energy was at most) he replaced them with "Yeah, Yeah!" But, I cant blame him. The amount of tours AC/DC went on between 1980 and 1992 is unbelivable, but dont let that one fact ruin the CD for you. It is a great one, I think it is my favorite. Have fun, and ROCK OUT!

Great Live Album, especially if you've been to a Concert,
By
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
If you want a studio album, go buy one. This is a great representation of their Concerts, granted not quite as ear shattering as the real thing. If you've never been to one of their concerts, this is as close as you'll get on cd, turn the lights out, crank these cd's up and imagine Angus jumping around on stage in his school boy outfit sweeting like a pig.The one imporvement over the live show is that you can actually hear Brain sing(well that could be good or bad depending on your view) And you even get one of the Angus $ bills from the Razor's edge tour in the double set. |
