Rc is one of the best out there. He should be ranked up there next to rek and lyle, he has that texas dancehall sound that few people do

I attended one of the concerts for the recording (the Mucky Duck - site of the CD outtakes). I also attended his Sept. 9 CD release party/concert at the Firehouse in Houston. The CD truly captures the live concert feeling (complete with everyone singing along). If you've seen him live, this CD will not disppoint you. If you've not seen him live, you will appreciate just how much energy he puts into his concerts. Truly, "Things look good around here."

I went to the live recording of this album at green hall, and I waited all summer for the CD to come out. I love his live preformences and you can crank up this cd in the car or house and get lost in the music. Anyone outside of Texas should listen to the music, even if they don't get the meaning behind some of the songs. Having fun all wrong, is one of my favorite songs, it holds so true to living in Texas, the bluebonnets are always worth the drive!

Great selection of songs. Roger Creager should be a huge country star around nation. Not just Texas. Highly recommend this CD to all music fans.

Great CD. Bit of a scratch on the CD but typical of most manufactured CD's these days. I certainly don't blaim the seller.

Looked into after hearing "Love" and "Having Fun All Wrong" on the radio. Add some Guy Clark and Buffett songs and it seemed like a no-brainer. Songs are good and fun to listen to. Other reviewer compared to Robert Earl Keen....maybe, more like Kevin Fowler or Dallas Wayne. But Lyle Lovett? Not even close.

A decent enough live album. If you're unfamiliar w/ his work, this would be a good introduction. If you have a lot of his stuff, it may not be worth the price - nothing earth-shattering here, just solid rendetions of many of his "hits".

I live in Mississippi but have found a love for Texas Country music - and Creager is one of the best. I love all the tracks on this cd, but would have to say {having fun all wrong" and "Late night case of the blues" are my favs.

Live country from deep in the heart of Texas,

Creager springs from the same Texas circuit as Pat Green, Cory Morrow and others. It's a country music orbit that mostly ignores Nashville, christening its own stars with loyal fans who enthusiastically pack the dancehalls and clubs for their tour schedules. This new Texas crowd takes its cues from the detailed, grounded writing of Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark (whose "L.A. Freeway" is covered here), and even Jimmy Buffet (whose "A Pirate Looks at Forty" is covered here in a fine sound-check recording). Sing-a-long favorites like "Having Fun All Wrong" and "Love" harbor the sort of lyrical detail (not to mention twang, fiddle and rock 'n' roll energy) that would sound out of place on today's country radio.
Creager's become a first-rate live performer, pacing his songs and set to the crowds. As he relates on "Good Old Days," dues-paying is just another name for "having a career," and the band's enthusiasm for the stage shines. Catching their act at several classic Texas venues (including Houston's Mucky Duck and Gruene's legendary Gruene Hall) provides fans a chance to take the excitement home, and gives those outside the Lone Star state a hint of what they're missing on a nightly basis. |
