This is a rich collection of songs, many of which originated or were popular in the U.S., such as "Romania, Romania" and "Belz." The selections range from tragic (a ghetto lament) to madcap (a Spike Jones number), and they're perfection as performed by incredible vocalist Julie Bressler and the band.

This is the first Klezmer CD I ever bought, and still one of the best. I like that it's 16 tracks and 75 minutes long. It perfectly captures the live feel of this landmark concert event. At first listen, it's immediately apparent what a special occasion this was. The music is played with dedication and love. The songs are beautifully sung, and the instrumentation is spot on. There is a huge variety of Klezmer music out there, but this is an outstanding place to start. I highly recommend adding this CD to your collection. It's Klezmer music at its best!

I discovered Klezmer music over 20 years ago when I attended a concert by this group, which was founded b students at the New England Conservatory in Boston. I love the life-afirming quality of Klezmer music, which I believe resembles Hungarian gypsy music. I now have 4 CS's by the Klezmer Conservatory Band. All are terrific; but this one is the best. (I love a good title. one of their CD's is "Jumpin' Night in the Garden of Eden.")

This is an outstanding collection of tracks from a skilled group, the Klezmer Conservatory Group.
