I hope that this "Volume 1" is the first of MANY subsequent albums from the "Archives" the origi9nal - and still - home of the Grand Ole Opry. There's some great stuff here - though there are a few changes I'd like to see in future volumes.

First off, the CD runs 61 minutes but two of those minutes is a spoken intro by Vince Gill, and another TEN minutes is taken up by audio from Ralph Emery's induction in the Radio Hall of Fame (in Chicago) with Reba McEntire presenting Emery his award. This is split up into the 2nd track and the closing one. What's in between is a series of 13 performances done either at Nashville's Convention Hall or in the WSM studio between 2010-13 by artists like Del McCoury Band, Billy Dean, The Time Jumpers, JD Souther, Darrell Scott and Georgette Jones (singing Tammy's "Stand By Your Man"). Some songs have spoken intros, all short exceot for Billy Dean, who spends ˝ his 5:42 performance of "We Just Disagree" on the spoken intro.

The second change I, for one, would be for the producers to much deeper into the archives. The station was founded 87 years ago. Surely they have recording from at least the 20th century.

So I can certainly recommend this Cd and it would have received five stars from me, if not for the 10-minute tribute to Emery, which I'm sure you won't listen to more than once.

I hope you found this review both informative and helpful!

It could be better. No real standouts except "Great Day to be Alive" written and performed here by Darrell Scott. This is a much better than Travis Tritt's take on Scott's song.
