Any Slackers fans out there will surely appreciate this album. If you've ever seen them live, you already know how much energy, soul, and pure fun this band manages to produce, and this new disc is definetly a great taste of that. Although it doesnt have any new songs on it,it is still are unlike the tunes on other Slackers cd's because of the improvised solo's which show off amazing tombone, sax, keys, vocals..etc.. you name it, it's there. You can here every wave of vabrato in Vic's voice that you normaly dont hear on the others discs, on top of a cheering crowd tight notes and rhythms..and like i said before, some awesome horns. If you're into raw, uncut traditional, live ska, this album is definitly for you..it is a much appreciated new release by one of the most talented and rockin' traditional ska bands around now. Now if you aren't really into the whole traditional ska thang' but you'd like to hear a good example of what REAL ska isi would recomend definitly checking out some slackers music. This isn't something you aquire a taste for, but true musicianship. over all...something different and as always stupendous work by the slackers! :)

Forget the ska-punk junk... Dance all night to the tunes of the Slackers. I must say that this CD is excellent. Keep in mind, this is a live CD (hence the title) - so you won't find any new tracks on it (except for this 1 minute dub type song). They did an excellent job of picking their best songs from their studio CDs... Work Song, Sarah, Soldier - Certainly some of my favs!
This CD does capture the intensity that they pour into live shows. I've seen them a few times in AZ (one time I drove half way across the state to see them) and this album will make you wanna drive across the state as well. If you ever get the chance, see them live. In the mean time, dance to the CD.
The only reason why it didn't get 5 stars is because they didn't put any new songs on it. C'mon - every band has some songs that arent released yet. If there were 1 or 2 unrecorded songs on it, it would have gotten 5.

Being from the UK really doesn't help when you want to listen to Ska music because it is so hard to find. That's where Amazon comes in. Without it, I'd be skaless!!
But anyway, onto this album... Another fault with living in the Uk is that The Slackers tour here once every 5 years max, which doesn't give much opportunity to see them. However, I reckon this album makes up for it. You get the whole atmosphere of the place, you get the improvisational horns from everyone and you get the fantastic sound of pure unadulterated ska, Slacker style. Which is fine by me. This excels itself as an album. I have The Question and Better late Than Never, and the live versions of tracks off both these albums are remarkable. I just can't wait until they tour again and hopefully come to this country, because I'll call them and offer to be a roadie...

recently had an opportunity to see the Slackers live, and for some reason I passed it up. I am now kicking myself repeatedly for missing that chance. "Live at Ernesto's" takes everything good about a ska band [a solid rhythm section, a variety of styles, catchy tunes, and a bitchin' horn section] and mixes it with everything good about a live CD [AWESOME sound quality, extended jams {in Work Song, Pedophilia and You Don't Know I}, and CROWD INTERACTION]. This CD is just over an hour of this band at it's finest, playing in one of the weirdest settings in the world: a Mexican restaurant in southern Holland. They take selections from all 3 of their studio albums [none of which I've heard before, so this was all new to me] and just rock 'em out. You can feel the crowd's energy, as well as the band's. Live albums take a lot to win me over, and this one has it all. I'm not even that big of a ska fan, and I still dug this. The only problem I have now is not being able to buy any of their studio albums. This live album has so much electricity that I just can't see their studio albums doing them justice. Go see the Slackers live and buy this CD, you'll thank me.

Simply awesome! As good as their studio albums are (and they're darned good!), they don't always fully capture the stomping insanity of the band's live performances, so this is a wonderful disc to keep around for those times when you know they won't be back in your city for a while and you just can't take it anymore! I'm especially grateful for the new, loud, thwompin' crystal-clear recordings of the old 'Better Late Than Never' songs! Excellent! Try not to dance, I dare you...

The Slackers are definitely one of the greatest ska bands around these days, and perhaps one of the greatest of all time. Their newest entry, Live at Ernesto's, only emphasizes this. This album sounds great and is a whole lot of fun to listen to. Best track in my opinion is Sarah, but a close second is the riling rendition of the Fried Chicken Song. Worst track is Work Song -- horn solos a bit too long for me. If you are an old-school ska fan, check this out.

I've seen the Slackers live quite a few times and I must say this album totally sums up the whole 'live' experience on Compact Disc quite nicely. They play soooo well, and with overflowing energy they perform a rather lively collection of great Slackers songs from all of their past albums (which I also recommend). Dig it, and dig it well.
