Accoustic Hold Steady showcases "Boys and Girls in America", August 10, 2007
This review is from: Live At Fingerprints (Audio CD)
In 2006 the Hold Steady released the excellent "Boys and Girls in America" album, and they have been touring relentlessly since then.
"Live at Fingerprints" (5 tracks, 18 min.) was recorded at an in-store performance at Fingerprints in California, and presents the band bringing accoustic versions of 3 tracks from the "Boys and Girls in America" album (Chips Ahoy, You Can Make Him Like You, Citrus) and 2 other tracks (Cattie and the Creepy Things, You Gotta Dance With Who You Came to Dance With), and it all sounds great. The band sounds relaxed, and the inbetween songs banter by Craig Finn is just hilarious. This EP was released only to independent CD retailers, although obviously it is available in the after-market, including here on Amazon.
I just saw the Hold Steady in concert last week here in Cincinnati at the Sonic Muse Fest, and they put on a great, energic show, with the set having a heavy emphasis on "Boys and Girls in America" songs, as it should be. If you have a chance to see them live, don't miss them. Meanwhile, this EP is a nice addition for Hold Steady fans.
