Their only Mix album is an old-school winner,
This review is from: Live At The Social Volume 1 (Audio CD)
This gets a brief review even though it's hard to find. Nonetheless, I got my copy through Amazon.com even though the label is out of stock; with some luck they can get you a copy too.And if you are a Chemical Brother fan, or a fan of early hip hop with an electronic edge, you'll definitely want this. This was released before their classic Exit Planet Dust album, and as a mix album only contains one of their songs. But as a DJ disc, it's about as good a disc for this style of music as you'll find- clever, original, well mixed, and picking songs that aren't overplayed. Everything gets thrown into the pot: there's Meat Beat Manifesto's cut-up quality on "Cutman," great hip hop by artists such as Eric B & Rakim, and the chemical-beats sound they would later develop in titles like Red Snapper's "Wesley Don't Surf" and The Charlatans "Nine Acre Dust." True to their roots, there's a dose from their acid house influences. This is what their "Brothers Gonna Work It Out" CD should have been. Very good, and worth getting if you are can track it down.

Amazing. I've been waiting for some "different" Chemical Brothers. I mean, I love there other stuff but it's great to be able to know that they rock hard even if they're not playing songs off their albums. This CD has everything from hip-hop, teckno to rap mixed into one great record. A MUST get for any Chemical Brothers fan or anyone for that matter.

The Chemical Brothers' CD Live at the social is I think the best CD of the chemical bro's. I once had this CD in my collection but the CD wasn't working well so I returned it to the shop. At some way my order for a new one didn't go well and now I don't have it and it's nowhere for sale anymore. I can say I'm very depressed about this. If you have info about htis CD can you please write me at: bhermanussen@hotmail.com

This is one of those cd's that I loved the second I heard the 1st note - & I haven't stop playing it since. I'd heard of it over a yr. ago & it took me this long to finally find a copy. If you can, get this cd! It'll be one of the best investments you'll make.

I bought this on a whim 3 years ago and have never regretted the decision. I have bought 2 used copies I've seen to give to my friends. A weird collection of acid, breaks and hip-hop. No, the mixing isn't the best, but the tracks speak for themselves. Mighty beats, good basslines and a couple of suprises. Dope from beginning to end.note: vol 2 in theis series is great also, with John Carter mixing dancehall/breaks/hip-hop.

This is a very nice live example of what the chemical brothers do. It is very high quality, and the mixes flow together. If you can't decide, go with this album.

Maybe the best album ever,
By A Customer
I found a copy of this CD used and paid about 7 bucks, expected nothing and got the best surprise I've had in a while. The entire disc is like being at the best party you could ever imagine, and is the perfect soundtrack for your own. The Chemical Brothers mix some of the best, most ramdom, old school tunes you've ever heard on this album and it never slows down. I've played this disc for musicians, critics, and people who don't know squat and everyone loves it. 26 dollers is a little steep but if anything is worth the money this is it.
