4.0 out of 5 stars Deluxe Edition includes DVD
The Live At Soundstage Deluxe Edition contains the same CD as the regular edition plus a DVD containg interviews and four live performances. For some reason, Amazon does not make this clear. 1.0 out of 5 stars Ringo Soundstage Not The Full Show
I only gave this one star because it does not represent the entire show. If you go to the PBS website and look at the track listing you will see two listings: One of which was shown on TV and the other is the full show. This collection is the shorter of the two, thus making this incomplete. You would think that if they would go through the trouble of putting this out...

And, oddly enough, the Deluxe Edition now costs a dollar less on Amazon that the regular edition! If you don't already own the regular edition, then this is a really good deal. Even if you already own the regular edition, you may want this one for the DVD extras. The performances by Ringo and the Roundheads are tighter than his live work with the All-Starr Bands. See the reviews of the regular edition for details on the music. It's a fun set to own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ringo's Finest Live Album Thus Far!, October 24, 2007

After three spins, I'd say Live At Soundstage ranks as Ringo's finest live CD to date. On the plus side, it features nothing but solo Ringo & some of his Beatles material, unlike his star-studded all-starr band albums. It also isn't marred by long story introductions, which was the point of the equally fine VH1 Storytellers disc (great stories...you just don't want to hear them each time you play the CD).

The only negative I can think of is they cut a fine live version of Ringo's Give Me Back The Beat, one of Choose Love's (2005) highlights. I also wish he'd treat us to more of his always fine drum work. He does pick up the sticks on Choose Love, Back Off Boogaloo & Boys at least.

That said, you get GREAT performances of Octopus's Garden, I'm The Greatest, Don't Pass Me By, Never Without You and Choose Love. In fact, the whole set is filled with energetic live versions that are faithful to the studio recordings. It's a fun CD I'm sure I'll return to again and again.

This collection is the shorter of the two, thus making this incomplete. You would think that if they would go through the trouble of putting this out that the whole show would be included. Also note that these songs don't even match what was shown on TV. You must go to the PBS website to compare. This was a great show that no one will ever see in it's entirety!

A long term time ago rock n roll music was just fun. it wasnt meant to be scrutinized like it has been for the past 35 plus years. ringo is from the period where the music was light and fun. in some ways he still carries the beatle mystique on this cd. the music is fun, recorded well and even just listening to it brings back to me that simpler era. good job ringo and the roundheads. its too bad if what the other reviewer said is true of the split. the roundheads helped revitalize ringos career. i cant wait to hear Liverpool 8. by the way, wheres the dvd for this show?

5.0 out of 5 stars LIVE AT SOUNDSTAGE, December 2, 2007

Great great great. No need to be jealous of Paul's gig fans... Ringo has definitely HIS fans, and that's entirely deserved, due to his performances... A real showman too...

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable Ringo 'live', along with 'VH1 Storytellers' CD, April 17, 2011
This review is from: Live At Soundstage (Audio CD)
There's a 4-CD-R set called `Beatles Releasing Collective (BRC) LIVE' (2009). It's part of a CD-R collection that's the basis of a book about putting the Beatles back together again for the 1970-2010 era. Four cuts from this `Ringo and the Roundheads' evening contribute to that BRC LIVE set. As I recall, the performances on the CD are all very good, but the following made BRC LIVE because they're better than any other Ringo-sung `live' performances of these songs: `With a Little Help From My Friends' (the finale version), `I Wanna Be Your Man', `Don't Pass Me By', and `I'm the Greatest'. Two other Ringo-co-written songs--'Choose Love' and `Never Without You'--go onto the BRC's `Singularity' CD-R set (2010). Generally speaking, Ringo's `live' recordings with Mark Hudson and the Roundheads are better than with the various incarnations of his All Starr Band. That said, there ARE All Starr goodies her and there.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Starr Time !!, April 27, 2010

An excellent live CD from a rock legend who doesn't always get his due. A great collection of his Beatles hits, his early solo hits, and some of his newest material. His tribute to the recently departed George Harrison is especially moving. I agree with the previous reviewer, this band is much tighter than the groups he puts together for his All-Starr band tours. The quality of the sound onstage and the resulting recording are outstanding. Most of all, what comes through on this CD, and if you are ever fortunate enough to catch him on tour, is that Ringo is enjoying every moment of the show and really does have alot of love and respect for his audience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, August 9, 2008

Having just seen Ringo Starr live in Primm Nevada a few weeks ago I came across this CD and decided to buy it.
Ringo has never been my favorite Beatle, nor has he sang most of my favorite Beatles songs, but he is fun.
Most of his songs have been written by Lennon & McCartney or George Harrison, but it is surprising how many he has either co-written or written himself.
This to me is a document of the his recent tour. The song selection is somwwhat the same, however he did sing a few different songs like Oh my my and his finale for the night Give peace a chance.
The band here is good and his selection is great.
Ringo will never wow you like McCartney will or Lennon and Harrison did, but he will always be fun and worth watching or listening to.
This is for hardcore Beatles fans like myself. Fun

A fun CD for sure! 8 of the 14 tracks were originally recorded by The Beatles, and the others are gems from Ringo's solo career, including the tribute "Never Without You" written for George Harrison. Ringo's band sounds great. Granted it is not the full show that was recorded for PBS, and that is somewhat disappointing, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But the recording is well mixed and clean, and Ringo plays many of his best songs.

I love Ringo live, but I was disappointed in the dvd, simply because I wanted to see Ringo & the band just play without the talkin, but the cd is good.
