Editorial Reviews

2008 two disc (CD + DVD) release Explicit Version. The legend that is Twisted Sister return with their new live CD/DVD recorded at London's Astoria Theatre on a very hot summer night in 2004. The critics hailed Twisted Sister's performance as one of their greatest ever. If you're an S.M.F. and have wondered what Twisted Sister thought about any of their live shows throughout their 35 year history, you should know this: while certain band members remember certain shows, and relate tales of particular performances as being their favorite, rarely does the band universally agree that any particular show is about as good as it gets. Each band member considered this show to be amongst the most special of their career. This concert was filmed and kept in a vault for the past four years. When the band had the opportunity to look at the footage, it brought back the heat, passion, intensity and audience participation that was a level far above all expectations. We look forward in sharing this magical performance with all of you! DR2 Records.

Twisted Sister has been quite active of late, with Christmas albums, rerecorded albums, festival appearances, and now a live CD/DVD set filmed at the famed Astoria Theater in London. Anyone who has seen Twisted Sister (or their non-costumed alter-egos Bent Brother) knows they put on a hell of a show, and their performance here is no exception.

Dee Snider, one of the most charismatic (not to mention underrated) frontmen in rock, seems to be having the time of his life, gleefully leading this costumed and made-up crew through roughly 80 minutes of sheer rock & roll mayhem. You'd never guess from this performance that the band has been kicking around for more than three decades. Any other band might have been tempted to phone it in, but Twisted Sister thoroughly and completely rocks the place.

Of course any live Twisted Sister performance, especially one recorded for an official CD/DVD release, is going to include the band's biggest hits. You get your "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It" as well as minor hits "You Can't Stop Rock n' Roll" and "The Price". The band also serves up a nice amount of lesser-known tracks like "Under the Blade", "The Fire Still Burns" and "Destroyer". The set list is a great romp through the band's much loved back catalog, and the band makes you believe they're absolutely thrilled to be playing that song, whether it's a massive hit or a deep cut, that night, for that particular crowd.

DVD Notes - The video quality is as good as the sound quality, there are multiple camera angles, and the whole thing is very professionally shot and edited. It's a bit of a drag that the concert was in a relatively small setting.

Love hearing these guys live again. I can only pray for a new album. Dee's voice is as awesome as ever, the guitar hooks sound great and this was an overall flawless, epic LIVE preformance by Twisted Sister.

I purchased this not really knowing what to think. I have always been a pretty big fan, but I have never got to see TS live,(they have never played within 500 miles of me!) but I have Big Hits and Nasty Cuts, and I love the energy in the live recordings on that disc. All I can say is WOW!! They put on an amazing show!! I have had this disc for one week, and I have watched the DVD five times already! If you even remotely like Twisted Sister, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of this live performance.
Now if they would just put together a decent American tour!!

Twisted Sister is another one of those bands you either love em' or hate em'. I got into Twisted Sister via Motorhead, Fast Eddie Clark produced their first album, "Under The Blade". I still have a love for them just because of that, though I haven't liked everything they have done. This however, Live at the Astoria, is a must have. They are firing on all six and then some. It's Twisted Sister back in form and having fun and doing what they do best, Rock The Free World. If you are thinking about getting this, do not hesitate, added it to your basket and wait in anticipation, you won't be a sorry. Become a SMF like the rest of us, it's a beautiful place to be.

Twisted Sister live? Yeah baby ! The star of this package is the DVD not the cd. Live at The Astoria showcases the band as they always were. Explosive, energetic, loud, lewd, and metal. For anyone who loved the band and especially never got to see them live this DVD is a must to see what Sister really was all about.

The original Twisted lineup had'nt been together in years, they hadnt even talked in years following one of the most bitter breakups in music history. There is alot to dwell into here but I wont. Ill just say that after years apart the band gets back together and starts touring again and are just as good as ever if not better. The attitude is still there and it explodes on this DVD.

Of course in typical TS fashion it starts off with the song What You Dont Know ( Sure Can Hurt You) and I cant think of a song in any bands repitore that was better written for jump starting a concert. From there the set list continues with some of the bands best hits primarily from the two albums You Cant Stop Rock N Roll, and Under The Blade and of course it includes I Wanna Rock, and Were Not Gonna Take It. The two songs that catapulted the band into world recognition especially in the US with its comedic MTV videos.

Without a doubt if you dont really know TS outside of the MTV hit songs you are missing out on one of the hardest metal bands of the time and this is the DVD that shows TS for what they always have been. I guess you either love it or hate it depending on your taste. TS didnt care if you hated them, they played for those who loved em.
