Triumph at their best!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Live at the Us Festival (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
When I first heard this show I was bown away. This Is Triumph at their absolute best! This Is the third Live album they've released with another one A Night Of Triumph coming in 2004. I would have loved to give it five stars, but if anyone has been to this show or or knows about it, they will realalize that the opening song Too Much Thinking was omited maybe do to technical problems. They also added some keyboards that was not played on the show. But all in all I highly recomend this to anyone that loves live music.

Triumph arguably on top of their game 25 years on,

Canadian hard rockers Triumph released its third live album entitled Live at the US Festival in September of 2003 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band's classic performance at the US Festival in May of 1983.
This album was the band's third live album after 1996's King Biscuit Flower Hour Live album recorded on the 1981 Allied Forces tour. This album was recorded during 1983's Never Surrender tour at the US Festival on Heavy Metal Sunday where they shared the bill with headliners Van Halen plus other hard rock/metal giants Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest and The Scorpions. The former two would break out into superstardom later in '83 and the other five acts were well established. Triumph performed the best out of all the band's that day and weren't either coked out or drunk (unlike their fellow acts who performed on that day). Amongst the highlights on this CD is "Rock and Roll Machine" with singer/guitarist Rik Emmett's classic nine minute guitar solo which has a teaser of the Never Surrender track "All the Way" thrown in and "Minor Prelude" and a Spanish riff all played on distorted electric guitars CRANKED TO 11!. The other tracks "Allied Forces", "Lay It On the Line", "Never Surrender", "Magic Power", "A World of Fantasy", "When the Lights Go Down" and set closer "Fight the Good Fight" were played with a fire that none of the other acts seemed to have that day. Triumph were a great live band who delivered both in the studio and on stage. Triumph's Live at the US Festival album and offshoot DVD are hugely recommended!
