Editorial Reviews

2012 two CD live release. The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with blues, progressive rock, Indian and Middle Eastern influences, dubbed "Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s up until 2005 when the band broke up, The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling 2 million records worldwide, and achieving a #1 Canadian single "Heaven Coming Down" in 1999. The Tea Party toured Canada on twenty-one occasions and Australia on twelve. In November 2002, The Tea Party toured Canada with symphony orchestras reinterpreting a decade's worth of shared songwriting. The band broke up in 2005 due to creative differences, but re-united in 2011 to play several Canadian tour dates during the summer. During the tour it was decided to continue and the band has now reformed. Live From Australia: The Reformation Tour was recorded in 2012 during The Tea Party's Australian tour and showcases the band bursting with renewed energy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh...disappointing... March 23, 2014
By Rayray
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I am from their hometown and have seen them live back in their glory days (Edges of Twilight). I would love a good live recording from this era. I was not even aware that they had reunited and was excited to listen to this disc. Excitement quickly turned to disappointment...and boredom. The use of exotic instruments seems all but absent. The music feels like they are just going thru the motion (you never felt that way at one of their gigs in the mid 90's). I am also not a fan of piecing together tracks from different shows to make a live album...no energy or momentum is built that way. I want a full show...warts and all. I want the banter with the audience, the band intro's, the rants, the encores. They should have stayed retired because they clearly didn't have anything new or interesting to add to their legacy. (That said, I encourage everyone to dig out Splendor Soils, Edges of Twilight, Transmission, or Alhambra. These guys were amazing back in the day and deserve far greater recognition for their incredible stuff in the mid-90's!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Back For Good?....Long Live, "Moroccan Roll". January 20, 2013
Format:Audio CD
During the summer of 2012, Canadian rock trio The Tea Party embarked on a tour of Australia.

Recorded over the length of their tour, this double CD brings new life to all your favorite hits from the bands extensive catalog of hits.

Canadian fans love them, and so do the rest of the world, especially "down under". Hopefully they'll get back to their roots and create more of the music that made them such a huge success.

They have been around for approximately 20 years and after a 7 year hiatus they are back with their latest offering, a "Live from Australia - The Reformation Tour." I guess the endless support and pressure from their fans to put it all together again was more than any band could wish for, so they made their fan's dreams come true.

Pretty much just picking up where they left off, singing their classics as if they have kept touring since 2005. Martin's vocals are in fine form.

The Tea Party...

Jeff Burrows - drums, percussion, backing vocals
Stuart Chatwood - bass, keyboards, harmonium, mandolin, acoustic guitar, backing vocals
Jeff Martin - guitar, acoustic guitar, theremin, esraj, oud, bowed

One week prior to The Tea Party's show at the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney on July 21, 2012 they announced they would be filming the concert for a live Blu-ray/DVD release. Tea Party - Reformation Tour: Live in Australia Check it out.

What more can I say, the band is awesome, and as usual always at the top of their game. This double CD and the DVD concert is a must have for all Tea Party fans.

Long Live, "Moroccan Roll".

5.0 out of 5 stars They're amazing and they're back! December 23, 2012
Format:Audio CD
It's so great to have this amazing trio of talented artists back together and making music again! This album from their 2012 reformation tour is packed with energy from a band that feels like they're still at the top of their game. The Tea Party has always been one of my favorite live shows and now with the release of their first Live album so many others can find out how great they are! The companion Blu-ray release is well worth picking up as well especially if your a fan of listening to Jeff Martins musings in between songs.

By Deimos
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have been a huge fan of this amazing band since Splendor Solis and have always dreamed of a live album since seeing them live on their Seven Circles tour. The set list is great and the band is in top form from start to finish. It's great to see these guys back in solid shape and performing so well its like they never left. The companion dvd is excellent too. Welcome back guys \m/
