If you haven't heard of me, I wouldn't be surprised..., March 7, 2002
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
On the recommendation of a friend, I bought "Live Bait" in Toronto, Ontario without even hearing the sound of the band and I'm not sorry I did. This is my favorite CD and the best by Kingston, Ontario's Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson, Trevor Strong and Mike McCormick). This CD captures the live comedy that the worms are famous for and was recorded live in 1996 and 1997 in the cities of Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Perth, Deep River and Kingston.
The track listing on the CD is as follows:
Jesus' Brother Bob: "My mother is a saint, and my brother is a god, but all I am is Jesus' Brother Bob."
The Mountie Song: "We came all the way from Buffalo, New York and that's a long way from Canada!"
Canada's Really Big: "We're the second, largest country on this planet Earth. And if Russia keeps on shrinking, then soon we'll be first...as long as we keep Quebec."
Me Like Hockey: "Sit right down in favorite chair; wearing only underwear; favorite night is Saturday night; 'cause me can watch hockey fights."
Proud to be Canadian: "We'll give you Alan Thicke, but Shania Twain is ours."
Malcolm: "Malcolm solves his problems with a chainsaw and he never has the same problem twice."
TV Weather Guy: "He's a lousy clown but a good TV weather guy."
The Ballad of Dan: "or I am Dan the insurance salesman."
Carfull of Pain: " can't drive it home 'cause the muffler it be saggin'."
Mounted Animal Nature Trail: "Northern Ontario is 80 billion kilometers long."
Carrot Juice is Murder: "Give Peas a Chance!"
The Last Saskatchewan Pirate: "And when you see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores."
The Arrogant Worms have been featured on the Dr. Demento radio program and have performed at many festivals in the United States and Canada. This CD is an excellent introduction to their music for future purchases.
Canada must be really big if you haven't heard of the Arrogant Worms.

Take the Bait, September 21, 2002

I love this album. If you have not seen these Guys in concert,it is every bit as fun as this cd sounds. I have to say if they put every song I like on this album, then they would need to play every song they have. It is a good example of all there albums, and the songs they did notchoose are on par with these ones. A great introduction to the Arrogant Worms.

A non-stop blast of energy., July 8, 2003
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
These guys must really love Canada. It has to be nearly impossible to lampoon their homeland and to lovingly puncture its icons and traditions so thoroughly without a true sense of devotion and good-natured fondness for the place. This album, filled to the gills with sly wit and unsubtle buffoonery, is a slanted homage to the Great White North.
Yes, Americans believe a host of stereotypes about their northern neighbors, and the Worms exploit them so gleefully they get laughs from Yanks and Canucks alike.
