5.0 out of 5 stars If you haven't heard of me, I wouldn't be surprised..., March 7, 2002
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
On the recommendation of a friend, I bought "Live Bait" in Toronto, Ontario without even hearing the sound of the band and I'm not sorry I did. This is my favorite CD and the best by Kingston, Ontario's Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson, Trevor Strong and Mike McCormick). This CD captures the live comedy that the worms are famous for and was recorded live in 1996 and 1997 in the cities of Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Perth, Deep River and Kingston.

The track listing on the CD is as follows:

Jesus' Brother Bob: "My mother is a saint, and my brother is a god, but all I am is Jesus' Brother Bob."

The Mountie Song: "We came all the way from Buffalo, New York and that's a long way from Canada!"

Canada's Really Big: "We're the second, largest country on this planet Earth. And if Russia keeps on shrinking, then soon we'll be first...as long as we keep Quebec."

Me Like Hockey: "Sit right down in favorite chair; wearing only underwear; favorite night is Saturday night; 'cause me can watch hockey fights."

Proud to be Canadian: "We'll give you Alan Thicke, but Shania Twain is ours."

Malcolm: "Malcolm solves his problems with a chainsaw and he never has the same problem twice."

TV Weather Guy: "He's a lousy clown but a good TV weather guy."

The Ballad of Dan: "or I am Dan the insurance salesman."

Carfull of Pain: " can't drive it home 'cause the muffler it be saggin'."

Mounted Animal Nature Trail: "Northern Ontario is 80 billion kilometers long."

Carrot Juice is Murder: "Give Peas a Chance!"

The Last Saskatchewan Pirate: "And when you see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores."

The Arrogant Worms have been featured on the Dr. Demento radio program and have performed at many festivals in the United States and Canada. This CD is an excellent introduction to their music for future purchases.

Canada must be really big if you haven't heard of the Arrogant Worms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take the Bait, September 21, 2002

I love this album. If you have not seen these Guys in concert,it is every bit as fun as this cd sounds. I have to say if they put every song I like on this album, then they would need to play every song they have. It is a good example of all there albums, and the songs they did notchoose are on par with these ones. A great introduction to the Arrogant Worms.

5.0 out of 5 stars A non-stop blast of energy., July 8, 2003
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
These guys must really love Canada. It has to be nearly impossible to lampoon their homeland and to lovingly puncture its icons and traditions so thoroughly without a true sense of devotion and good-natured fondness for the place. This album, filled to the gills with sly wit and unsubtle buffoonery, is a slanted homage to the Great White North.

Yes, Americans believe a host of stereotypes about their northern neighbors, and the Worms exploit them so gleefully they get laughs from Yanks and Canucks alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daves Rave bout Live Bait, December 30, 2007
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
The Arrogant Worms have a delightfully wonderful, odd, offbeat sense of both music and comedy. Live Bait the easily their best album, and it is the perfect one for someone wanting to be introduced to the Worms wonderful wacky view of the world. From Malcolm Solves his Problems with a Chainsaw to The Ballard of Dan, there is not a single throwaway song on this CD. Honest!!! Believe me!!! Sign on the Dotted Line right here!!.. Seriously, I own several Arrogant Worm CDs and this is the creme of the crop. Its perfect for a pleasant interlude of family entertainment driving down the highway. Or even when you are trying to calm down the wife who is chasing you because you left a mess in the kitchen. LOL... Buy it!! You will definately Love it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome group!, October 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Live Bait (Audio CD)
I heard of this group through an online friend, and after seeing some of their music at mp3.com was eager to buy their CDs from amazon. I am not sorry that I bought Live Bait; although a few of my favorite songs were not on there (ie Killer Robots from Venus), it was a really enjoyable experience and absolutely hilarious. Arrogant Worms is very talented and I hope to eventually get their other CDs.
Favorite songs in this CD: The Last Sch (sp) Pirate, Carrot Juice is Murder, TV Weather Guy, Malcolm, and Canada's Really Big.

Live Bait is a collection of the Arrogant Worms best songs from their previous albums. Their humor is well defined with "Jesus' brother Bob" and the classic "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate". The musical assault will have you on the floor laughing.

These guys are creative, weird, talented and FUNNY!
Their "proud to be Canadian" songs put that brewery marketing bumpf to shame. Well worth the money. If you love the strange stuff that shows up on CBC Radio then these guys are for you.

I was introduced to the Worms live in concert at FolkFest, and HAD to buy a couple of the CD's to take home - EVERYONE I have exposed to the Worms is in love with this band! Everyone sings along by the second chorus, even if they've never heard the songs before. If you don't know the Worms yet you are missing a HUGE treat, so get yourself introduced already. Like the Bare Naked Ladies in posture and vibe, but not at all musically the Worms are here to entertain you - Just put on the disc and a smile invariably follows.
