The best Woody Shaw ever!,

This is with no question in my mind the best Woody Shaw album he ever did. His playing on Bemsha Swing is one of the very finest trumpet solos I've ever heard and should be required listening for all jazz players.

very melodic,

this album sounds tender in comparison with woody's earlier music. i think that he plays with more melody in his latter work, not to say that his early stuff isnt melodic because i really havent heard (other than like 3 tracks on rosewood) something with woody on it that wasn't chronic
