1.0 out of 5 stars Live Better Longer: The Parcells Center 7-Step Plan For Health and Longlivity (Purchased on 12/11/2011)
I donated the book. I found the information to be very outdated. I have focused on this topic for quite a few years and find current information goes way beyond this.

When I first heard about Hazel Parcell's work on a Gary Null radio broadcast, I was intrigued enough to order the book the next day. I've been studying health and nutrition on my own for the last 12 years, and during that time have found a lot of the information presented by the "experts" contradictory and often confusing. With so many different theories regarding diet and lifestyle changes circulating it became difficult to know who to believe. This book is a refeshing change from all that. In the book, Hazel explains that one diet does not fit all, and that you have to experiment a bit and see what works for you, something I myself have been doing for many years. In addition, she gives lots of valuable information on water purification (her recommendation came as a bit of a surprize to me-it was the first time I had ever heard that theory), special baths for detoxification, the harmful effects of pollution in our enviornment, and cleaning your fruits, veggies, and even meats of toxins and pesticides. She even gives you a detox protocol if you've been exposed to X-rays. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to either improve or maintain their health, especially the beginner. It is filled with some of the most sensible health advice I've ever read. Thanks Hazel and Joseph.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Healer's Healer, June 26, 2005
Dr. Hazel Parcells was a total original with an astonishing ability to cut through nutritional dogma. She had little patience with most health experts, saying that they were unteachable because their cups were already full. She broke all the rules of establishment nutrition by recommending red meat, raw milk, butter, no soy and no margarine. And she understood body/mind/spirit medicine long before it became popular. Most importantly, Dr. Parcells was a living, breathing success story -- a woman who had been terminally ill at 39, who healed herself and went on to 65 vigorous years of pioneering discoveries in nutrition before her death at 106 years young in 1996. Dr. Parcells liked to say that "If you want to be healthy, you need to trade your wishbone for a backbone and get to work." I took her advice and became healthy. I noted that she earned several advanced degrees after the age of 50 and went for my own PhD. I was so intrigued by her findings about the health problems caused by soy protein and soy margarine that I researched and wrote "The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food." It confirms what she -- in her brilliance -- knew back in the 1950s! Joseph Dispenza's beautifully written book is a tribute to the life, love, laughter and wise teachings of this extraordinary woman. I recommend it highly to everyone who wants to remain joyous, vital and productive into great old age.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book changed the way I look at health., June 23, 1999
I am a massage therapist -- and I thought I had read and learned just about everything important in the field of health and wellness. But this book opened my eyes! I particularly enjoyed the philosophy of healing that it espouses. We are not just physical beings, but we also have emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies -- and all of them (they are all one, of course) need to be healthy. This book taught me, through the example of Hazel Parcells, that we all have to take responsibility for our health. But the great thing is that we really can do it! This book should be sent to every health professional in the country. I've already sent it to a lot of fellow massage therapists. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life altering reading providing spiritual & physical changes, June 10, 1999

This book has changed my life spiritually and physically! Even though the book is mostly about acquiring healthy eating and hygiene habits, I selected it to cling to as a tool and motivator to help me through the quit smoking process. I feel this nasty habit has miraculously been taken away from me due to Joseph Dispenza's wonderful book! Not only do I feel better physically, but I feel I have spiritually reached a higher level. I also have a better attitude and feel happier. This book has helped me to care more about my health and to carefully select what I put into my body. I hope to live a healthy life like Dr. Hazel Parcells did for 106 years!

This review is from: Live Better Longer: The Parcells Center 7-Step Plan for Health and Longevity (Paperback)
Dispenza has always been a favorite of mine and his charming account about Dr. Parcells was very inspirational. If more individuals would embrace the concept of personal responsibility for their own health care and stay proactive in exercising prevention the government would not be trumping up the value of a prohibitively expensive universal health care system. Dr. Parcells was very brave to embark on her journey towards self healing especially in the 1970s. In regard to that I speak from personal experience that taking appropriate steps towards one's own health care really works! Today some of her methods have been improved upon thanks to the amazing research and development of organizations such as A4M and the Institute for Functional and Regenerative Medicine. However, Dr. Parcells was a pioneer in this health care direction. My husband gave up a lucrative practice in critical care medicine to pursue this field and is loving every minute. He has helped numerous motivated patients to optimum health without the aid of pharmaceuticals except in certain extreme cases and then in much lower doses. Much of his thrust is based on the elements of Dr. Parcells very insightful ideals along with today's amazing therapies that actually treat a person from the celluar level. (First find out WHY someone has a problem before writing a prescription for something that most likely will not cure it.) I highly recommend this book as an introduction for anyone who is at all interested in attaining vibrant health for their entire life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live This is a great book for self-healing!!!, April 5, 1999
By A Customer
I am a former student of Dr. Parcells. I believe her work is on the cutting edge of health and healing. She has changed the way I treat my patients. Her philosophy from Live Better Longer teaches people to take responsibility for their healing instead of living out the doctor's diagnosis.

This review is from: Live Better Longer: The Parcells Center 7-Step Plan for Health and Longevity (Paperback)
Joseph Dispenza tapped into a real gem with Dr. Hazel Parcells - she was a wonderful teacher, a very alternative healer and she brought Medical Radiesthesia to an entirely new level. Many think of dowsing as being too wowo. It is an art form that has been practiced down through the ages. We ALL have the ability to tune into our higher energies, those of others as well as those of our mother earth - we just don't realize it and often we don't know how to do it. Dr. Parcells practiced a very high form of "muscle testing" and made it a practice of helping people detoxify and heal themselves on the cellular level. This book leads us through Dr. Parcells 7 step program of health building and detoxification. Hopefully Medical Radiesthesia will not become a lost art in America! It is an excellent way of finding problems that are often difficult to diagnose and then finding the solutions.
