5.0 out of 5 stars it's better than it sounds, December 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Live at the Bitter End (Audio CD)
i just listened to the samples of the songs on this cd, and i was really disappointed. the cd sounds so much better! i like burlap to cashmere because they have a unique sound (which some have likened to the secular artist Rusted Root, though i'm not too familiar with them) and lyrics that strike me. the percussion is one of the most unique qualities about the group; it's hardly ever the snare-and-bass combination that you would find in ordinary pop music, and it's never synth. all the songs have rhythm, though i admit that i like "chop chop," "basic instructions" and "anybody out there" better than the other two. if you like the group, however, i recommend the "anybody out there" cd instead of this live cut. there are more songs on the actual album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop what ever you are doing and get this CD, May 14, 1998

Having seen this band of 7 cousins and friends play over 6 times, both indoors and out, I would have to agree with what they say about themselves. "The band has deep roots in folk and world music. Simon & Garfunkle, Harry Chapin, and Cat Stevens are some of the core infuences on the song writing. Combine this with arrangements full of flamenco guitar, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and Greek bazouki music and a very unique but reminiscent sound is created."

This is a great CD The group is underappreciated. They're creative and their music is realistic but not horribly depressing. A great buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I can enthusiastically recommend this disc!!, July 1, 1998

This review is from: Live at the Bitter End (Audio CD)
I saw this band perform live in New York City; they are nothing short of amazing!! I purchased the disc after the show and it has not left my CD player since. It is a style of music the likes of which I have never heard before. The 2 lead vocalists have Simon & Garfunkel like harmonies, the lead guitarist has INSANELY fast hands and plays in a flamenco style reminiscent of Gypsy Kings. The entire sound is underpinned by a talented drummer and a separate percussionist which a provide a Rusted Root, driving rhythmic feel. They said that their first album on A&M Records will be out at the end of the summer or early fall; I can't wait. If they come to your town, see them live and buy the disc. These guys are incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best buys I have made recently!, April 27, 2000

This is a wonderful LP. I was moved to tears for the first time in years by the first track. The drums are wonderful, giving so much power to the message that they give. The album captures the tension that is there with their live performances as weel as you could. I highly recommend it!

I think the group is very talented and the acoustics, guitar and percussion are just wonderfully orchestrated. A very pleasant sound and pretty original. Too bad they did not make more albums but I say a thumbs up!

B2C has become one of my favorite all-time bands. Such a unique sound! And this live CD really showcases the energy of the band at that time. Great music!!!

each song has a different beat that is easy to dance to and also fun to hear. Not boring in the least--no two songs are the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar and percussion, July 17, 1999
This review is from: Live at the Bitter End (Audio CD)
I was looking for a band that had talent, something more than a synthezier\keyboard sound. B of C has that. Each song is different than the one before yet it still has the same undertones. These guys really know their instruments.

They could work on the album cover\booklet. Maybe a history of where they come from or something.
