5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Hot And Hotter
This record will allow to to fully experience the sound of the Les Paul and a Marshall. With a knife cutting edge and piercing sound that I have never found in any other alblum it is by far one of my very favorite alblums.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bloodrock/Texas style rock, January 5, 2001

I saw Bloodrock on tour with Grand Funk in the the early 70's and bought this when it was released. Great music and great songs spanning Bloodrock's catalog. When Lee Pickens left Bloodrock I had the pleasure of seeing the Lee Pickens Group in Weatherford, Oklahoma shortly after the release of his album LPG featuring the great song Hold On. Bloodrock, Lee Pickens, and Nitzinger all produced great Texas sized rock and this album is worth the money. Great guitar and keyboards and the music is a reminder of how good rock was in the 70s.

I would recommend this cd to anybody who wants to listen to music that is more than just words. This music has life and brings forth true emotions. D.O.A. is truly a musical masterpiece.

Not even most burnouts from the 70's remember this band (except mayber for a few of the wild album covers). However, if you ever want to know what is wrong with rock today, listen to this. Not expertly mixed (thus, knocked off a star), nevertheless, this album really rocks. From the opening notes to "Castle of Thoughts" to the mighty crescendos of the trio "Cheater", "jessica" and "Gotta Find a Way", this is a power album. The vocals are muddy, but the music employs the rousing bass guitar and the sloppy almost out of control lead guitar which dominates some of the best rock of this genre. This groups bridges that fine line between heading for out of control to being out of control (as exhibited by some of the more unihibited acts of the time, such as the MC5 and the "old" Alice Cooper group). Highly recommeded for those who yearn for this type of music. Since its not being made today, its great to be able to find "new" music like this.

Bloodrock was one of the greatest rock bands in the early 70's. They were overshadowed by bands like Grand Funk but in my opinion just as great. This live album shows what a great live band they were. Lee Pickens is a wonderful guitar player and he really shows it here. If you have not heard Bloodrock before, start here. This is powerful rock n roll.

I owe this album on vinyl for about 30 years and the CD was hard to come by but I don't regret to buy it because this is one of the most passionate concerts I have listened to. The whole feeling is oke, Jim Rutledge, the singer is in top form ("Jessica"), with Lee Pickens the band had one of the most underestimated guitarvirtuosos and the drummer Rick Cobb (may rest his soul) is awesome, he drives the music to its limits. The songs are just great (I owe all the studio-albums now and must say the live versions are just killer). I am into a lot of guitarbands but Bloodrock deserved more than others got. Also I like a lot keyboards influenced bands and again Bloodrock with Steve Hill at the helm, with searing Hammond, scores mighty. An album to never forget and to listen frequently, to save the spirit of the seventies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is an OK live album....well..part of a LIVE album anyway, February 27, 2005
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
First off...I was at this concert at the CHICAGO AMPHITHEATER the night it was recorded.....10th row center...They were a very full sounding band Live....and loud....and I do agree with the fact that several songs from this cd are actually studio cuts with audience overdubs (a practice that was common back around that time)..If you listen closely and are familiar with the studio albums...You'll pick it up quickly..

Will say this.....the actual live songs are a bit rushed....compared to the studio versions.....and they are fairly consistent with the studio arrangments....aside from the tempo.....There really isnt all that much reason to own this CD...unless you want to complete your Bloodrock collection.....the sound isnt really all that great.....If you want to hear great Bloodrock..The way it was done well..Then check out all their other cd's

It's just a shame that they couldn't come up with a complete LIVE show to put on a LIVE album....and as I stated earlier....stick with the studio albums and you'll hear them the way they inteded you to.
