5.0 out of 5 stars Unsung Guitar Hero, April 1, 2000
By
This review is from: Live Blues [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the followup video to An Evening With Gary Moore released back in 1990 (also worthy of 5 stars). Live Blues is easily as good as it's predecessor and actually may surpass it.

Filmed in a tiny intimate club in London, this concert displays Moore's mix of blinding technique and pure passion for blues that makes him second only to Stevie Ray Vaughan in this idiom. The intimacy is further enhanced by the recording of this show on video tape (his last concert video was done on film) and this gives a clearer, in-your-face feel.

The tape is 90 minutes long and the set is comprised of - Cold Day In Hell - Walking By Myself - Story Of The Blues - Oh Pretty Woman - Separate Ways (with an INCREDIBLE lead in!) - Too Tired - Still Got the Blues - Since I Met You Baby (w/ B.B. King) - The Thrill Is Gone (w/ B.B. King) - The Sky Is Crying - Further On Up The Road - King Of The Blues - Jumpin' At Shadows - Stop Messin' Around

Bottom Line: A fantastic video for Blues Guitar fans. Track it down at all costs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Moore has no peers!, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Live Blues [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Gary Moore is THE most incredible and virtually unknown (in U.S.A.) guitar player around. This video redefines the term "awesome" for any fan of the blues or lovers of guitar playing in general! Buy it! Watch it as many times as it takes till you too are a fan for life. BB King does some of his best playing trying to keep up with Gary during his guest spot and is more than impressed by this man's playing. I thought I was the only person in this country who dug this artist, he is my personal favorite and I have spent years searching out everything he has done, but still find new things all the time. If you like Gary Moore he has also played with:

70-71 Skid Row (not modern day Skid Row) // 75-77 Colosseum II // 79 Thin Lizzy // 94 BBM (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Moore)

and has apeared on albums by:

Cozy Powell-Tilt, Over the Top, Octopuss, Best of // Snowy White-Highway to the Sun // Paul Rodgers-A Tribute to Muddy Waters

in addition to tons of his own material. If anyone has any other info like this write me.

Gary Moore rules!
