5.0 out of 5 stars Unsung Guitar Hero, April 1, 2000
By
This review is from: Live Blues [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the followup video to An Evening With Gary Moore released back in 1990 (also worthy of 5 stars). Live Blues is easily as good as it's predecessor and actually may surpass it.

Filmed in a tiny intimate club in London, this concert displays Moore's mix of blinding technique and pure passion for blues that makes him second only to Stevie Ray Vaughan in this idiom. The intimacy is further enhanced by the recording of this show on video tape (his last concert video was done on film) and this gives a clearer, in-your-face feel.

The tape is 90 minutes long and the set is comprised of - Cold Day In Hell - Walking By Myself - Story Of The Blues - Oh Pretty Woman - Separate Ways (with an INCREDIBLE lead in!) - Too Tired - Still Got the Blues - Since I Met You Baby (w/ B.B. King) - The Thrill Is Gone (w/ B.B. King) - The Sky Is Crying - Further On Up The Road - King Of The Blues - Jumpin' At Shadows - Stop Messin' Around

Bottom Line: A fantastic video for Blues Guitar fans. Track it down at all costs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Moore has no peers!, July 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Live Blues [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Gary Moore is THE most incredible and virtually unknown (in U.S.A.) guitar player around. This video redefines the term "awesome" for any fan of the blues or lovers of guitar playing in general! Buy it! Watch it as many times as it takes till you too are a fan for life. BB King does some of his best playing trying to keep up with Gary during his guest spot and is more than impressed by this man's playing. I thought I was the only person in this country who dug this artist, he is my personal favorite and I have spent years searching out everything he has done, but still find new things all the time. If you like Gary Moore he has also played with:

70-71 Skid Row (not modern day Skid Row) // 75-77 Colosseum II // 79 Thin Lizzy // 94 BBM (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Moore)

and has apeared on albums by:

Cozy Powell-Tilt, Over the Top, Octopuss, Best of // Snowy White-Highway to the Sun // Paul Rodgers-A Tribute to Muddy Waters

in addition to tons of his own material. If anyone has any other info like this write me.

Gary Moore rules!

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! GARY MOORE IS A TOP BLUES GUITAR PLAYER AND ONE OF MY INSPIRATIONS GUITAR-WISE (AS WELL AS CLAPTON, HENDRIX, SRV etc). THIS CONCERT IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN IN QUITE A WHILE! GAZZA HAS SUCH A HOT, SWEET AND SUSTAINED TONE OUT OF HIS '59 GIBSON LES PAUL WHICH WILL STUN YOU THROUGHOUT THE VIDEO. RIGHT FROM THE OPENING TRACK 'COLD DAY IN HELL', GAZZA SHOWS HE MEANS BUSINESS! THE CONCERT COULDN'T HAVE REALLY GOT OFF TO A BETTER START THAT THOSE EAR-CATCHING GUITAR SOLOS! HE PERFORMS ALL HIS POPULAR SONGS BE THEM HARD ROCK, ROCK, R'N'B, BLUES AND IT'S ALL PLAYED WITH AN ENERGY AND AN HONESTY IN WHICH I FEEL ALL THE BEST BLUES IS PLAYED. EVERY GUITAR PLAYER SHOULD OWN THIS VIDEO. YOU WILL BE HOOKED AS GAZZA IS SUCH A PRECISE, MELODIC AND GREAT SOUNDING MUSICIAN WHETHER HE'S PLAYING BLUES OR WHATEVER. TOP 9/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Moore at his best, Live in Concert!, February 11, 2002

Gary Moore has always been my favorite gutarist since I was a kid. I have gone through all kinds of fazes of gutarist. From the heavy metal faze to blues lil bit of jazz and blue grass. I have seen alot of different gutarist out there and I keep coming back to Gary Moore. He is quite simply the best out there and this video proves it. If your a Gary Moore fan, or just love great blues/rock n roll music with a Gary Moore twinge, than you have to pick this up.

This review is from: Live Blues [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Everytime I loaned this video to a friend I would have to go and forcefully take it back from them. I don't remember who I loaned it to last and I know they wont be bringing it back anytime soon. A friend of mine loaned it to me and I thought that is was mine. I just ordered one and none of my friends will know about it

5.0 out of 5 stars A GUITAR SEMINAR BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!, February 21, 1999

GARY MOORE IS NOT A HOUSEHOLD NAME HERE IN AMERICA. IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF HIM, IT'S PROBABLY THROUGH HIS SHORT STINT WITH THIN LIZZY. I HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS GREAT ARTIST WHEN HE DECIDED TO PLAY NOTHING BUT THE BLUES. THIS IS THE FOURTH LIVE VIDEO OF GARY MOORE I OWN. IT IS AN INTIMATE PERFORMANCE IN A SMALL CLUB. GARY HAS BEEN ABLE TO COMBINE HIS GREAT BLUES ROOTS STYLINGS WITH HIS METAL CHOPS, WITH GOOD FLAVOR OF COURSE.

I AM ALSO LOOKING FOR A VIDEO FROM AROUND 1995 THAT HAS HIM PERFORMING PETER GREEN MATERIAL THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE CONCERT. THIS WAS NEVER RELEASED IN THE U.S., BUT WAS RELEASED IN THE U.K.

IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW I CAN GET A COPY OF THIS VIDEO, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT samflores1@aol.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect show, perfect atmosphere, perfect genre of music., April 28, 2009

Gary Moore's Blues Alive album was such a magnificent piece of work, I had to view all those songs being played live. It was fairly difficult to obtain a copy, being out of production, but it happened eventually. The venue was smaller than expected, but the guitar playing and the music exceeded that found on the album. Gary Moore's lengthy intros and breaks were quite a treat to hear and see. His set list was complete (except for Parisienne Walkways) and he had B.B. King as a guest. The show was quite magical and we are fortunate it was recorded and caught on tape. Now, if only he would release this on a hi-def DVD format with a few interviews and whatnot.....
