How do you Know?,
By
This review is from: Live Bootleg (Audio CD)
The only negative with this album, there isn't more. That says something, seeing how it comes in at over an hour with all 11 tracks. The highlight being the (previously unreleased) instumental track "Orch of the Medium". At over seven minutes it still leaves you wanting. This track takes you all the way and fits virtually every thought you have. With no words it is really all in your mind.
This album reinvigorated my taste for Days of the new and it got my brother hooked as well. It is a live album so there are various segways into songs with spoken word but I feel it makes it more fun to listen to. It is essentially just Travis and his guitar, singin what we already know or what you will want to learn. There is a good mix from all three "Days" albums, the song selection works well. I was pleased to find my favorite D.o.t.N. track "How do you know you?". The overall feel of the album is a bit more raw/rough hence the bootleg. However, at times, I find it to be more Days of the New than Days of the New All I can say is you will not be disapointed with this album. I hope we get more in the future from Travis, be it a new "Days" album or perhaps a Bootleg Volume 2

A brilliant live masterpiece!,
This review is from: Live Bootleg (Audio CD)
Days of the New front man Travis Meeks (you may all remember from his record setting single "Touch, Peel & Stand") has recorded a masterpiece of music that is all his own. I caught the show a few weeks before this CD was recorded when I was fan for only a short while, but relived the show in my head for months before this CD was released and now can relive it forever.
He carries the energy of a full band with just his voice and guitar. I now am a life long fan of his and await his next work of art. I regard him as one of the greatest musicians ever and it is a shame he is not more popular. Travis has a unique vision for music and his music can definitely be felt through any generation. Even if you do not listen to too much acoustic guitar playing this is for any music fan. If you do not own one of Travis's 3 CD's then I suggest you buy them right after this CD. 1st Orange - 2nd Green - 3rd Red.

A Truly LIVE performance,
By
This review is from: Live Bootleg (Audio CD)
This is a great CD. Very energetic for 1 man and a guitar. The performance is excellent and the intimacy cant be matched. As the headline reads, it is truly live. You get the in between songs, short rants and an occasional guitar 'off' notes, but Ill tell ya, its a very refreshing and cool disc.
The packaging is just a cardboard sleeve(at least mine was). Nothing special. I wish there was a bit more detail on it, but it holds the CD. Collectors should now that the packaging is really low budget, so don't bother with it unless you truly want the music inside. If you liked any of the 3 discs of Travis Meeks (Days of the New), you will love the feel of this. Its honest with its imperfections, yet the energy and voice make up for it. No one out there has that 'voice' and style of Meeks, I play it often. The sound quality is really good for a low budget release. Pick it up if you like him or if you like live music in general. I really hope he has his act together and we can get some new Days Of The New music. The man truly has a unique style and talent.
