Beautiful Voice March 24, 2007
Format:Audio CD
At the time of this recording Patti's voice was sort of on the cusp of girl to woman. It was a bit raspy but in a good way. I got this album back in 1981 as a teen because I was a Patti Austin fan. I wasn't disappointed and I still listen to it today.

There are some real gems on this album like "Let's All Live and Give Together." My personal favorite is "Wait A Little While." The album is upbeat and jazzy and sometimes slow and sexy.

We get to hear Patti's silly country side with her remake of Randy Newman's "Rider In The Rain". I still laugh when I listen to it.

I would recommend this. It's cute and funny and actual good music on every track which is rare to find these days. I enjoyed the whole album... Oh, I forgot! She sings "Love Me By Name" on this which is on the "Sounds... And Stuff Like That!" album. It's a really nice live version. The fact that this is live and was only done to get out of the CTI contract doesn't transfer to the quality of the recording.

Go Patti!
