Sure she's affected. Always has been. Always will be. We aren't being catty, but Eartha Kitt is as known for her trademark purr and prowess as she is her sultry sex appeal. She put the "sex" in "(s)exceptional, long before Madonna found the material for her foundation. Her latest recording captures Kitt during her recent sold-out Madhattan stint . . . a stint that proved the 79-year-old songstress is still witty, wondrous and down-to-Earth(a). Live recordings rarely work---poor production values, restless audiences and listless performers guarantee a flop---but this one is c'est manifique! It's an entertaining evening of the lost art known as "cabaret," during which Kitt displays a style swift, light and enchanting. Just wait until you hear "It Was a Very Good Year"---she takes Sinatra's dirge of a sated romantic and infuses it with optimism. Better yet: Her cover of Rosie Clooney's "Come On-a My House," done in guttural Japanese!

When I got hold of this CD, I just could not stop listening to it. Ms Eartha Kitt is a marvel! Her choice of materials and delivery is just fantastic!

I was privileged to be at the show during the Carlyle season. This is a 'gran reserva' edition of Eartha. I wondered after the concert whether I had just been spell-bound, but the recording proves she remains a phenomenon at 80. This is a must for the Kitt connoisseur.

What can one say that hasnt been said in all the other favourable reviews posted here. Ms Eartha Kitt is a true showbiz legend and ultimate entertainer. I would love to see a 'live dvd' of one of her shows as she seems to have such a rapport with her audience. This latest cd of her performances at the Cafe Carlyle in New York is true testament to her talent. Her selection includes her usual standards C'est Si Bon and Uska Dara as well as Aint Misbehaving but the pleasure for me was hearing her take on La Vie On Rose (spine tingling) and other fun numbers such as the Phillipine Waray Waray, Come On A My House in Japanese and Sell Me.
Fanatastic CD if you're a young or old fan.

This was my first Eartha Kitt Purchase and I am truly happy I bought this CD. To see how great this Legend is buy this CD. I Love it!!!!!: )

Love Eartha Kitt and all that she represents. I call her my earth kit because she shares so much in her performances and keeps everything so class act and down to earth! You will love this CD with so many beautiful classics of hers from around the world. My favorite is the one she wrote where she sings about having been pursued by men from every nation but one - she tells us that "the British man needs time" ! :)

I was actually searching for Ms. Eartha Kitt's Waray Waray Song. I was hoping it's in some other cd album. I really preferred the studio recorded number. Anyway, it's a good alternative. Witty and funny as only Ms. Eartha Kitt can deliver. She'll sorely be missed, but thank goodness for her recordings. The graphics on the album art's pretty good, only wished it were in the standard plastic crystal case. Thanks.

I recently saw Ms. Kitt perform at the Carlyle and was surprised that after the show her CDs were not available for sale. Found this CD on Amazon that was only released a year ago. When I played it, it was like being back at the Carlyle. Eartha Kitt is an amazing 80-year young lady!
