5.0 out of 5 stars great live album
Seventy minutes of live doom that are well worth the money for Candlemass fans. In general, the live songs are faster than the studio versions, which gives their set added energy and almost a power-metal vibe. For such black cats, they interact with the audience well too. 1.0 out of 5 stars This is awful
I bought this album because it had some songs off of Epicus Doomicus Metallicus on it but it was a complete dissappointment, it has the really horrible singer that sounds nothing like the original singer, and he completely destroys some of my favorite songs with his awful warbling and squalking.

The strength in Messiah's voice is even more powerful in this awesome collection of songs! Even better than Ancient dreams or nightfall! This is a must have! Mine was stolen once. . . you better believe I ordered a new one.

This review is from: CANDLEMASS : CHAPTER VI (Audio CD)
Beware the UPC code for both CANDLEMASS - LIVE and CANDLEMASS - CHAPTER VI are the same, It took me a while but I finally found out that Peaceville used the same sticker UPC for Chapter VI! In very small letters on the back of the Chapter VI album are the actual correct Barcode 801056721624 numbers.

Candlemass Live has the barcode 801056721525 which also was turned into a sticker and placed on Chapter VI!!! This is very important BECAUSE I kept getting the WRONG CD .. had to order Candlemass from Japan

Live in Stockholm June 9,1990.

The cover artwork of the Metal Blade cover differs from the cover artwork of the European Music For Nations (MFN 109 ) pressing.
The European pressing includes the bonus track "The Bells Of Acheron" (4:51) as track # 8.
The American version is missing "The Bells of Acheron" and "Crystal Ball" is only on MFN's
2 LP version.

Okay unto the show: Almost seventy minutes of slow brooding metal madness from everybody's favorite doom bad recorded live in Stockholm. I was a bit skeptical about picking up this disc after hearing the horribly recorded Helstar disc on Metal Blade Records. However, Candlemass Live is an excellent recording and a excellent show to boot.

It is beyond doubt that the Marcolin era is the Candlemass most fans consider their most identifiable, and I wouldn't argue with them there. `Live' reflects this period brilliantly with a cornucopia of tunes which would be considered some of their most recognizable, including `The Well Of Souls', `Solitude' and the nearest they ever came to a hit single, `Mirror, Mirror'. Things slow down a bit and the mournful "At The Gallows End"is beautifully performed. An oldie but goody "A Sorcerer's Pledge" gives us a chance to catch our breath, and ends the concert.

Line-up:
Eddie "Messiah" Marcolin - vocals
Mats Björkman - guitars
Lars Johansson - guitars
Leif Edling - bass
Jan Lindh - drums

All music & lyrics by Leif Edling.

Reissued in 2008 by Peaceville with bonus disc:
Bonus CD: Live At Dynamo Open Air ì88:

1] Solitude
2] At the Gallows End
3] Crystal Ball
4] Dark Are The Veils Of Death
5] A Sorcerers Pledge
6] Black Sabbath Medley
7] Crystal Ball [Live Fryshuset ì90: LP Version] [Bonus Track]
8] Bearer Of Pain [Live Fryshuset ì90: Mixing Desk] [Bonus Track]

- Sound & booklet much better than the original.
