This CD is sick, offensive and disgusting...AND I LOVE IT!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
Even though it has been a recent trend for Death Metal bands to release a live album, it's a good way for their fans who cannot see them in concert to hear what they sound like live. Live Cannibalism is a good album, you can hear every instrument and the sound quality is very clear. I have been a fan of this band since Eaten Back To Life, and they just keep getting better, and they can pull everything off live as well. I have seen them twice, and this CD just brings back all of those memories, the only thing is I saw them live with Chris Barnes, but "Corpsegrinder" is a welcome change to Barnes unintelligible grunts. Although I do prefer Barnes lyrics to the new ones. This CD has a great mix of old and new songs by the band as well. If you are really into Corpse, you will not be disapointed by this CD. I highly recommended it to all fans of this band. Keep it heavy, and grind on. Later.

sweet rays of light from Heaven,

Don't let the sinister name fool you! "Cannibal Corpse" is the one of the most beautiful Christian groups around today. In 1998, they won a Grammy for best vocal performance by a new artist--though it should have been for "Most Angelic Voice." Indeed, their amazing, almost divinely-inspired talent at the microphone shames even the Tallis Scholars and the Collegium Musicum Leipzig to the ignoble margins of musical mediocrity. Each musical creation by this group speaks to the soul like a little blessing from Heaven. Charlotte Church, eat your heart out (in this case, literally).Nowhere else can you experience the sheer bliss of Cannibal Corpse's dulcet troubadour renditions of the holiest hymns and psalms than on this Heaven-sent Live CD. For example, the song "Blowtorch Slaughter" (Track II) features a striking antiphonal chorus of bass against tenor voices for the first dozen bars, before the seraphim singing of the soprano chorus slowly melds in to the glorious melee. It is just like a motet by John Taverner or Josquin Desprez, but so much more! So unique and symbolic is the refrain's imagery that even John Donne could not further refine and elevate the lyrics! A cantata profunda so riveting that it makes Orff's "Carmina Burana" sound like a mere nursery rhyme! "Meat Hook Sodomy" (Track X), a sympathetic account of Genesis Book 19, features the most delicate harp playing that rivals even Charles Gounod's beloved "Ave Maria" arpeggio accompaniment (adapted, of course, from Bach's famous C major prelude) as performed by the Academy of St.Martin-in-the-Fields in their famous 1978 recording, "Live from the Vatican" (London/Decca). And as for "Skull Full of Maggots" (Track XVII) and "Hammer Smashed Face" (Track XVIII), well, all I can possibly say is "Hallelujah!" This CD is a treasury of all that is right in the world--justice, compassion, humanity, love, kindness, charity, and most of all, religious devotion. Whether you play it in the car on the way to church, or use it as background music to lull your infant to sleep, your soul will be just a little bit closer to God after each wonderful song.

brutal death metal,

This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
This album has all of Cannibal Corpse's best songs. Sure, the lyrics are some of the sickest around, but the riffs are amazing. The highlights were definitely "Stripped Raped & Strangled" and "Hammer Smashed Face," two of Cannibal's best songs ever, and even better live! If you're interested in getting into Cannibal Corpse, or brutal/gore metal in general, this cd is for you. And if you don't like the lyrics (if you do then I think you should be checked into an insane asylum) then just don't read the booklet!

One of, if not THE best live metal album ever!!!,

This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
The back of the case says it all "THERE ARE NO OVERDUBS OF ANY KIND ON THE MAKING OF THIS CD." Nore is anything fancy needed to make this record sound better. This is the first Cannibal Corpse record I purchased and only because I wasn't sure which album to start with so I figured I'd get something with all their best material on it. George Fisher's lead vocals could not be any stronger, this guy is definitely one of the best death vocalists in the world! The guitar work is fast and full of life ( or should I say death!). The bass also stands out as amazing, I can't think of anyone nowadays in music who can whale on that four stringer like Alex Webster can, this guy is FAST! All in all, if you're into death metal, or want to get into music with more brutality, BUY THIS ALBUM. It'll spin on your cd player many times to come.

A Great Live Album,
By Joseph Hall (Fort Lewis, WA) - See all my reviews

A lot of live albums are lacking. They feature little content, overdubs, and the like. However, this album isn't one of them. You get 18 bona-fide classics, and plenty of talk in between songs. Each song sounds faster and heavier than the studio version, even with the occasional mistake. My only complaint is the lack of a lyric sheet, so the songs on albums I don't have will make more sense. But I forgive them. Also, if you are looking to get into the band, this is an excellant starting point.

Brutality at its finest,
This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
I had never been a big fan of the Corpse before, only owning The Bleeding and Bloodthirst. As of late, I have become more into death metal, listening to more Morbid Angel, Deicide, Six Feet Under, Exhumed, etc. I was looking through my album collection and I popped Bloodthirst in. I was stunned I hadnt gotten more into them before, as I was totally engulfed in everything going on.The next day I rushed out to Best Buy to grab whatever Corpse albums I could. This was the only one in stock. It was well worth the 15 dollars I shelled over. The album quality is very good, easily one of the best live cds Ive heard before. Fisher is maniacal live, as is Paul on the drums-this guy plays hard and fast. The guitar work and bass are also really great. It is amazing to hear that this band can keep the level of insanity equal on the stage and the studio. And, as always, great cover art! Check this outfit out-they are amazing! Pure brutality!

Corpsegrinder is the man!,
By John Viagra (Your Mom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
Good old Cannibal Corpse. Loved by many and hated by many. This band in my opinion is the epitome of disgusting and funny at the same time. Honestly, how can anyone take song titles like "I Cum Blood", "Fxcked With A Knife", and the infamous "Entrails Ripped From A Virgin Cxnt" seriously? But I've always liked Cannibal Corpse, and this live is good. Onto the Cd.This album should deserve 3 stars alone for Corpsegrinder growling the song titles. It's really funny when he growls "This next song goes out to all the ladies tonight. It's from The Bleeding. *growling voice* FXCKED... WITH A KNIFE!!" You have to hear it for yourself. As for the actual music, well, you know what to expect. Live recordings of brutal death metal from the Corpse. The production is fantastic. Usually with live recordings, the guitars would be too loud and you can't hear the drums or the guitars sound too muddy. Everything is crystal clear. The musicianship also is pulled off without a hitch. From "Unleashing The Bloodthirsty" to "A Skull Full Of Maggots", and what Corpse set would be complete without "Hammer Smashed Face", everything is played perfectly. However, this Corpse album is no different from any other Corpse album. The repetitiveness. Actually, Live Cannibalism isn't as repetitive as some actual Cannibal Corpse recorded material, but still this isn't a Cd I would listen to all day long. I never give a Corpse higher than a 4 to be honest. Anyways, if you're a hardcore Corpse fan, pick this fxcker up.

Live Cannibalism - The Audio CD,
By Ronald Placeres "Chulo" (Miami, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Cannibal Corpse albums in my collection. I bought it somewhere in late 2000 along with Death's Individual Thought Patterns and the 4th soundtrack to Xena: Warrior Princess. So when I got to this CD and played it, like all Cannibal Corpse releases, it delivered.
Now before my review. I need to say some things that are very imporant. This release is available in a variety of 2 different formats. There's a version on CD and one on DVD. I will review the DVD version next. Let me also not forget that there are also 2 different versions of the CD and DVD version but all this falls under this whole problem with different versions of CD's and DVD's being released in the US and in foreign countries overseas as well as the whole issue of imports and the common complaint about the overeas countries always getting the good stuff. To put this in proper perspective, there is the CD and DVD version of this release for the US and the version for countries overseas. The tracklisting and order might be slighty different. All of the might be due to an important factor and that factor is that the band's first 3 albums are banned in some foreign countries like New Zealand and Germany and that band can't perform any song from any of those first 3 albums. Is this why the foreign versions of the Live Cannibalism release can't have songs from those first 3 albums and there are tracks that are not on the US versions. So this is why the tracklisting is different for the versions for the foreign countries than the ones for the US. Now the reason I'm addressing this is because I want to clear the air for all the foreign Cannibal Corpse fans who are confused as well as to offer Cannibal Corpse collectors (both US and foreign) a change on how to get their hands on both the foriegn and US versions of this Live Cannibalism release for possible, xtra, bonus stuff on the both versions so that no one misses out on anything. Now for the US and foreign fans, both the US and foreign versions of both the CD and DVD versions of this release are available only at places like E-bay. So go look through the section for Cannibal Corpse and get a copy of each version if available. Also, look here at Amazon.com just in case there are import copies which are foreign version of both the CD and DVD. Lastly, the version I will be reviwing now is the US version for audio CD. Now for my review. This is not another Cannibal Corpse studio album. This is a live album and it contains live material from the tour for the album Bloodthirst. So the live material here spans from Bloodthirst all the way back the very first album called Eaten Back To Life. So basically, every album is covered. The performances are awesome, the production and sound is heavy, brutal and listenable at the same and track sellections will please any true Cannibal Corpse die-hard. Some of my favorite songs here are Staring Through The Eyes Of The Dead, Stripped, Raped And Strangled, I Cum Blood, F--ked With A Knife, Unleashing The Bloodthirsty, Gallery Of Suicide, Perverse Suffering, The Spline Splitter, A Skull Full Of Maggots and Hammer Smashed Face. So buy this album and experience some live, extreme, musical cannibalism curtesy of the monsters known as Cannibal Corpse. Enjoy the experience.

Live Corpse!,
By "angelofmorbidity" (TN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live Cannibalism (Audio CD)
This album was my first CC experience and I was completely blown away. One great thing about this album that I will mention right away is the number of songs. Unlike most live albums, you don't get just 8 or 10 songs, you get 18! There all among CC's greatest too. CC play three times as fast and as brutal as they do on their albums. This album is incredibly well produced as well. The distortion on the guitars is great, the bass is extremely present, every cymbal crash and snare hit is very audible, and Fisher sounds great. The Band: Fisher, voKILLS- Fisher sounds better than himself and Barnes ever did on any CC studio album. Even though he growls at very low depths, you can strangely understand what he is saying. Fisher screams so high and so low sometimes it'll make your own throat hurt. Alex, bass- This man is up there right next to Cliff and Claypool. He uses his FINGERS to pump out super fast riffs and very tough lines (just listen to his solo on the classic Hammer Smashed Face). Alex plays extremely clear, and no longer has the messy sound he did on "The Bleeding." Pat, guitar- Pat is just as good (and sometimes better) than his predescesor, Bob Rusay. He plays right on the mark and never screws up. His leads are great, and he plays with intense speed. I bet Pat runs through hundreds of picks during these performances. Paul, drums- Paul really tears is up on "LC." I know I have complained about how this guy is very complex, doesn't use a lot of rolls, blah, blah, but man, he is a demon with those blastbeats. His bass drums go a mile a minute, and I'm wondering if he triggers them. Excellent drummer indeed. Jack, guitars- Jack has been with CC since the beginning, and this shows his amazing talent for writing ripping, heavy, death metal music. Just listen to his work on "The Spine Splitter." CC have become one of my favorite death metal bands and I can't wait for the DVD version of this performance to arrive in mailbox. If you're a CC fan and are without this disc, get it NOW

CC's live brutality is now captured on disc!,
By Hater of the Human Race (Under a Serpent Sun) - See all my reviews

Cannibal Corpse is probably the most popular death metal band around. And while they are not the most complex or the heaviest, they can hold their own in both categories! The only reason misinformed people give this bad reviews is because this is the only death metal band they know. Look at the guy below me, he gave the Disturbed album four stars in another review! LOL Anyway most of you are familiar with these guys (except the one star people that most likely haven't even heard the cd) so i'll just say that the songs come across intense live, and the sound is killer! Also check out Incantation's "The Infernal Storm", for another amazing recent death metal release.
