My Favorite Live Collection Ever,
By Adam (MN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This collection is awesome! Of all the greatest hits and live CDs I have, this one is hands down my favorite. You can feel so much energy in the performance, and really gives you an idea of what it must be like to attend his concerts.
Chris isn't the absolute best vocalist in the world, but his style is unique and he's an absolute blast to listen to. He's got kind of a crackly, stressed sound to his voice, especially when he's shouting to get the crowd fired up, which I find to be very entertaining. There's something about his performances that seems so authentic compared to most of the newer performers on the radio these days. All the songs are great (I would give them all 5/5), but here are the ones I think really shine on this CD: For Your Love - instrumentals are great on this song... so energetic This Cowboy's Hat - so powerful compared to his original recording Gravitational Pull Riding for a Fall Hooked on an 8 Second Ride Little Long-Haired Outlaw - very high-octane finale to the concert

A great CD--plain and simple,
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic CD by a great REAL country (although really, a WESTERN) singer. I'm not a fan of most "live" CDs, but this one captures the magic of most of Chris' greatest songs. These live versions of "This Cowboy's Hat" and "8 Seconds in the Saddle" and, especially, "Riding For A Fall," among others, are incredible. Chris left us way too soon--it's already been a year and a half--and thank goodness we have this CD to remind us of how great he was in concert. I have only one quibble: "Gravitational Pull" was a really lame song totally out of character for Chris and should have been replaced by the fantastic "Even Cowboys Like A Little Rock 'n' Roll." Chris LeDoux was the best. And to the reviewer who asked where the real country music has gone (June 2003): you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what you're talking about.
