The Next Best Thing to Live, December 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
"The Clarks" are one of the best live bands playing today. From a musical and technical standpoint, their performances are nearly flawless without sacrificing the spontaneity and energy of a live show. Almost everyone that attends a Clarks show knows and loves their music already, and this makes for a great relationship between the audience and the band. Though they're becoming more popular nationwide, they're still something of a regional phenomenon...and it's really rare and exciting to go to a show by a regional band where EVERYONE knows EVERY word to EVERY song. Though no recording can actually capture the experience of the actual event, this CD is definitely worth buying. A young band that hopes to learn how to put on great shows could do a lot worse than to study Scott and the guys. Consider this your textbook.

The best Clark is a live Clark, November 10, 2001
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
This is a re-release of the Clarks live CD from a few years back. It seems the Clarks have found a record label that cares for them (unlike it's former label Way Cool, which proceeded to sign the band and never did nothing to get the music to the masses). I really couldn't tell you what they did to remaster the cd because it sounds the same to my ears as the original release but they did add 3 key songs from the fabulous Let It Go CD. If you never heard the Clarks before this is a good starting point to learn the older songs. Recorded at a dumpy dive club in the South Side of Pittsburgh the Clarks conquer the crowd with its Replacements influenced songs. You have many great songs to choose from here: "Penny on the Floor", "Cigarette", "Over Me" and "Mercury" are the best songs CD. The extra 3 songs from Let It Go are added at the end of the CD. They were recorded at a parking lot the local promoters in town like to call a venue. Kind of sad that a band as great as the Clarks have to utter the words, "It's great to be playing here at the IC light Amphitheatere". It's a parking lot with a rickety stage. "Snowman", "Better Off Without You" and the unbelievably killer "Born Too Late" are a great edition to an already excellent live CD.

Good, but get the updated version, December 14, 2002
If you haven't heard of The Clarks, no review can make you believe how good they are, so I'll direct this to current fans: you want to get the 2001 remaster, which is this same CD with 3 tracks tacked on to the end (Snowman, Born too Late, Better Off Without You).
