Best live vocalist ever!,

This is a very fine live recording. King Diamond vocals live are just as good as they are on the studio albums which is an amazing feat due to this amazing vocal talents. The set list is great, the performance is excellent and the vocals flawless. Amazing recording and pure King quality! \M/\M/

though the song selection for this cd had me scratching my head it was the only live diamond cd to that point so you take what you can get. the liner note from diamond about finding the tapes in his dark wet basement with spiders etc is hillarious as im sure the tapes would sound this good after being in a wet basement for years. i have the original and the remaster. you dont get any bonus tracks on the remaster and the fold out poster is gone. i gave away all my originals when the remasters hit the shelves but kept this for the poster inside. but the sound is raw and i respect the fact they released it how it was with no overdubs. if you love the king get this

King Diamond Live shows his brilliance,
By Darryl Keck (Midwest, USA) - See all my reviews

Live in 87 shows what I consider the peak in King Diamond's career. I love these songs from Abigail live. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the foolish ommisions of "The Black Horsemen" and "A Mansion in Darkness" which are two of his finest moments. I'd love to hear them live, but despite, this is excellent highlighting the brilliant guitaring of Andy LaRocque who I consider the "Rhoads of the late 80's". Great album from a great band that stands the test of time even today.

A very good CD with recordings from the Abigail tour. It has one Mercyful Fate's song too.

Raw,

This CD is for diehard fans. I like the raw sound of some of my favorite King Diamond songs here, a nice change from the polished recordings on the studio albums. Why Mansion was ommitted from the track list, who knows? I've wanted this CD for a long time to complete my collection, and I finally got it here. It might be deleted, so if you want this, get it now or never maybe. No store could order this for me. It's nice to have a complete collection. If you like this, track down the Bell Witch EP of Mercyful Fate, King's other excellent band. Hail to true metal!

"I must take what is rightfully mine........",

Recorded during the '87 tour "Abigail", this release leaves something to be desired for. It's not terrible, it's not bad, but I expected a little better than this. I've seen the King live, these recordings do not do the band or the King justice. The band sounds pretty good, but the way King's vocals were recorded makes you just want to go back and listen to the albums! I've heard better bootlegs than this, and the Mercyful Fate mini-disc "The Bell Witch" was also better. For Die-Hard King Diamond nuts only.
