Intimate performance within a small space makes the experience more moving than the songs themselves,

This review is from: Live in Copenhagen [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
While I previewed some songs on lastfm.com, did not expect the sound of this LP set is so intimate, as I played it in my small apt, it felt like Phil was just sitting at the corner playing his guitar and conversing with other people in the room. The songs are lo-fi tunes, but convey much more layered emotions...I can not use words to accurately describe the experience, but you should preview some of the songs elsewhere. The songs are great, especially delivered in such a carefree style as in a live show at a cafe or bar, but I understand the appeal can be subjective, the songs may become less stimulating if one expects to hear a noisy rock performance...this recording is truly remarkable if one is in the mood for some subdued ballads, the second LP where Phil engaged the participation of the audience is the gem of all. Overall, this record is for a select audience who appreciate more casual and subtle folky tunes...
