Truly talented,

I'd been a fan of Bracket since I heard their single, 2Rak005, and I'd grown to love them even more after I bought When All Else Fails and Novelty Forever. My next purchase was their Live in a Dive album, and it might be the best one I've heard. The passion of the band comes through very well on this album.
It should be noted that some of the songs are played much differently than their studio versions, and it lends the album more originality than one would expect from a live album. For example, Warren's Song Pt. 8 is given a lengthy instrumental introduction and 2Rak005 is played in a very down-tempo, almost reggae style. It is a very cool album. They keep the crowd involved with little bursts of wit sprinkled here and there, without taking the focus away from the music. Their live effort is terrific and stands right beside their studio releases in terms of quality and bang for buck. I definitely reccomend this album to fans of melodic punk or good music in general.

They weren't even headlining...,

I love live albums. I always find it disappointing when bands can't play live--and Bracket can definitely play live. This album is proof of that point. Every song is great, the ad-lib guitar solos are very good, and the crowd is quiet--that means more music and less screaming. I guess that it's kinda depressing when you keep on hearing references to the headlining band, which happened to be Tilt...which, I might add, isn't half the live band that Bracket is. It really is a shame that Bracket hasn't played live since 2000, because their live show is orgasmic.
Also, if you buy this CD, you get an interview with Bracket, a video of Circus Act, and a video of Trailer Park. Well worth the money.

Bracket = a good pop/punk for once,

All my buds are always b*tchin' about all these fake pop/punk bands. I heard these guys and i knew these guys are the definition of what pop/punk should be bulit like. Most people don't even say these guys are punks, i gotta a few words for ya, go do yourself these guys are more punk than you just cause they throw in a little twist rock n roll in a lot of their songs, but you must remember they are on FAT WRECK CHORDS, one of the most punk labels out there. So remember if any one says they know a good pop/punk band, say BRACKET is 10 times better.

It's ok to like Bracket,... (not a cliche for a start),

I like this cd it's great from start to finish with the quietist audience ever you must hear little shouting throughout the whole album which is a refreshing change from noise riots in the audience etc..... which is still always good, keep the quality pop-punk churning out bracket and oh dont buy this cd if you take music far too seriously and are to conceited for your own good-not a good idea. I just felt i had to give this 5 stars and oh yeah i bought it by mistake (mixup in the mail order or something) you cant trust overseas mailing these days not like in 1998 when everythi.....

Ok, this album is absolutely brilliant musically. Bracket mix country and western flicks with typically FAT punk. it's a combination that works fantastically and u end up with catchy punk pop that doesn't sound like every other punk pop band out there!the only complaint...why record ur live album at a gig where u are the supporting band and therefore hardly anyone knows your stuff??? otherwise...thumbs up! |
