Unlike a lot of people, I prefer studio music over live music when it comes to recordings, but this is my fav NUFAN album ever. These guys are totally awesome live, and it translates remarkably well onto the CD. The song selection is great as well, and I simply can't get enough of this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good NUFAN retrospective, November 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
In terms of technical ability you can't knock NUFAN at the time they made this live record. Despite changing lineups after every album they've ever made, the people on this record know the songs well and play them perfectly. Some real NUFAN classics are present and correct; Soulmate, On the Outside, Feeding the Fire and Justified Black Eye are all just as you'd want to hear them. The main flaws with this record are more down to the changing musical tastes of the band themselves. There are too many slow ones! When you're playing live everyone expects to hear the up-tempo danceable numbers, not the tearful slow stuff! Growing Down or Revenge would have been welcome instead of Chasing Rainbows etc. But I guess there's always songs you wish a band had played live.

Pretty good all round. If you like rock ('cos let's be honest, they're not really punk are they?) you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 and a Half Stars, June 27, 2002

I really like no use, I have two of there other albums (Making Friends and More Betterness), but IMO, this one is the best. It has a really good mix of songs (Soulmate, Straight from the Jacket, Room 19...), and they all sound as good as the actual recordings they were on. I think that the live version of "Soulmate" on this cd is better than the studio one, and that doesnt happen very often. Not all of the songs are Great, But Most of them are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Live Album, March 23, 2002

I would rate this album as one of my top 10 favorites. The songs are all awesome and they sound great. It's also a multimedia CD so you can put it in your computer and see video interviews, and the actual live performance of three of the songs on the album (Invincible, On The Outside, and Straight From the Jacket). A must have for anyone who appreciates good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get much better than this., October 30, 2001

I'm one of those people that will take live music over studio music any day of the week. I've been a fan of NUFAN for many years now, and I was stoked to hear that they were making a live album, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The raw energy is there, and it fuels the band and spills out into the crowd... It's really an experience.

My favorite parts of this CD are when Tony (the singer) lets the crowd take over the vocals, and you can hear everyone in the crowd singing in harmony with one another. "On The Outside" and "Coming Too Close" are two songs that are awesome in this respect. Sometimes it gives me the chills when I hear it because it's almost like I'm there in the crowd, singing along.

So anyways, if you enjoy NUFAN, this is a must-buy. If you're new to NUFAN, this is a great place to start. If you love live music, this is also a must-buy... There just aren't any reasons to let this one pass you by.

This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
Let me start off by telling everyone that this cd is great. Not only is it a greatest hits album, all the songs are somewhat different because they are live. So its almost listening to a whole new list of songs. The sound quality is awesome and the songs are incredible.

Plus, there is a 15 minute video for your computer. It has interviews, live songs, and some other cool stuff. The cd also comes with a little comic book.

You can't beat the amount of stuff packed onto this cd. If you are a No Use fan, then you should definetly buy this. Even if you arent a big fan, this cd won't let you down. But it and be happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Use For a Name, August 17, 2009
This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
Normally I would stay away from live punk albums. I have a couple live Descendents albums which are just awful. But there are some good live punk records NOFX "I heard they suck live" and AFI.
I've been a NUFAN fan since 1998. I had pretty much all there stuff. I waited a while to buy this one because I'm always iffy buying live punk albums.
This album is different. The sound quality is great. It has all their big songs from 1990-00. This came out shorty after "More Bitterness". It has "invincible" , "Coming Too Close",and "Chasing Rainbows" from more bitterness. It will not dissapoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars NUFAN at its best !!!, January 27, 2003
This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
Surely this is the best nufan cd... Lately they have been making slower songs (but it doesn't mean they are bad), but in this cd they show how hardcore they were...
This cd brought me to nufan, and it's a good choice if you're curious about this band.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation. oh ya and its live., August 24, 2002
This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
This was a great CD, however it wasn't a great live CD. For one, inbetween some songs they make conversation with the audience. I'm not sure wether they're trying to be funny or to just talk but they dont do a very good job. And also thier live music is exatly like thier CD music. I thought because its live there should be some change, some alteration of thier songs in some way. To me it was just a compilation. A compilation by a fantastic, amazing band but still nothing special.

This review is from: Live in a Dive (Audio CD)
The new nufan cd live in a dive is (...) awesome.
by far the best live album yet. The cd is full of raw No Use for a Name energy. The cd is altogether another awesome record that nufan has released.
