5.0 out of 5 stars Another great album by Christy
I would say I'm a big fan of Christy. I have most of his other albums and listen to them on repeat/shuffle none stop. I prefer the variety of music on this album. Hatti Carol, Victor Jara, Cry like a Man, etc. Great music, good show.

Pros: Contains some of my favs which aren't on other albums I have; good variety, great quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTED
I WAS DISAPPOINTED BY THIS CD AFTER FIRST LISTENING TO CHRISTY MOORE'S "LIVE AT THE POINT", WHICH I LOVED. I GOT THE FEELING THAT THE CROWD WAS ALSO DISAPPOINTED, AT TIMES CALLING OUT FOR HIM TO PLAY SONGS FROM "AT THE POINT". I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS CD, STICK WITH "AT THE POINT".

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great album by Christy, February 18, 2009

I would say I'm a big fan of Christy. I have most of his other albums and listen to them on repeat/shuffle none stop. I prefer the variety of music on this album. Hatti Carol, Victor Jara, Cry like a Man, etc. Great music, good show.

Pros: Contains some of my favs which aren't on other albums I have; good variety, great quality.

Cons: A number of repeats which can be found on other albums. I now have 4 versions of "So Do I"! It's still Christy and I love it.

I'm glad I decided to get this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful live performance, June 21, 2011
This review is from: Live From Dublin 2006 (Audio CD)
The Live At The Point cd was a terrific recording of a particular period of Moore's career. He was playing solo with lots of engaging banter and the choice of songs were a mix of entertaining topical songs and folk. Unlike some of the reviewers here I don't need or want him to make the same cd again!
This set represents a different period when Moore was playing live with Declan Sinnott. The range of material is fantastic as are the performances. He's always been a wonderful interpreter of other peoples' songs and there are some gems here. Working with Sinnott brings out a different quality in Moore, more reflective and understated. They clearly love playing together and their arrangements are very fine indeed. If it's not as immediate as At The Point, give it time because it's a really beautiful set of songs brilliantly performed.

Another in a series of Christie Moore Live albums, and perhaps the best of his new releases. However if you have his other Live albums, you have already heard all of the songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christy As Good As Ever, November 6, 2006
This review is from: Live From Dublin 2006 (Audio CD)
Any fan of Christy Moore will love Live from Dublin 2006. The amount of songs to the variety of music means there is something for everyone.
Christy is still in fine voice, and Gary Sinnott adds great texture with some world class guitar work. While it is a phrase so overused it has become somewhat of a joke, "a roller coaster of emotion" would be a great way to describe this release. No matter what the emotion, Christy Moore always leaves one with a sense of hope.

I thoroughly enjoyed Disc 1. The sound was excellent...Christy Moore was in fine voice...good song selection. Declan Sinnott's fuzztone guitar was a little disconcerting right out of the box, but I warmed to it. Later, his acoustic was wonderful. I would have liked a color instrument such as tin whistle or accordion, but even as a duo, this is strong stuff.
Disc 2 didn't quite measure up. And, it was a little too political/marxist for my taste. (Rah, rah, Sacco and Vanzetti, etc.?????) After three or four plays, it will stay in the case while I wear out Disc 1.
