Quite simply a genius of an album!,
By Cillian (Co. Kildare Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live in Dublin (Audio CD)
This is quite simply a classic Irish album. Christy is obviously relishing not being tied up in the hectic Planxty schedual anymore and sounds like he's really enjoying just playing a few songs with two friends. The choice of songs is ditinctly un-Planxty, covering a range of English, Scottish and American folksongs ("Clyde's Bonny Banks","Bogey's Bonny Banks","Pretty Boy Floyd") with some newly composed songs ("Hey Sandy","The Boys of Bar na Sraide) scattered among them. This album is an essential for anyone withan interest in Irish music!

Christy is Absolutely Fabulous!,
This review is from: Live in Dublin (Audio CD)
Christy Moore's "Live from Dublin" brings back a flood of memories for my husband and me. We were picked up at the Dublin airport on our honeymoon by a taxi driver who had Christy's CD playing in his car. He begged forgiveness for some of the "crude" language in it (which is nothing big here in the states) that has to do with a lot of Irish politics. We bought it in Dublin because we weren't sure we could find it (leave it to Amazon!) and had to have it. This mix of the audience's participation in clapping and Christy's fantastic, broguey voice is perfect. On some of the tracks you need to turn the volume up to hear exactly what Christy is saying/ singing, but it is hilarious, romantic, and it makes you want to get up and do a jig! The songs are all completely different. I can hear it in my head days after I've played it and I still want to hear it again! I have several of Christy's CD's, and this one, by far, is the best mix of his music. Buy it! You'll enjoy it and wear it out."...and I'll never figure out, how yer man stayed up on the surfboard after 14 pints of stout..."

The review you see on top is not about this album.Angela is talking about an album called "Christy Live at the Point". This also a brilliant album but it was recorded two decades after "Live in Dublin"!
